<title>Interesting post about PvP servers</title>
<link>http://www.online-gaming-forums.com/modules.php?name=Forums&amp;file=viewtopic&amp;t=4295</link>
<description>Saw this on the AoC forums and thought I would share. The guy makes some good points (FFA = Free For All btw). It made me think that PvP will defo be the most fun as long as we play as a team and secure alliances with the big guns ;)

[quote:25ae5437e8]Welcome to FFA PVP.

I just wanted to say ggthnx to all who played with us and to compare what you experienced there to how release is going to be. We were shown that World PVP is much more entertaining than some minigame will ever be. Funcom did it right, and they made it positively known that CTF will never take the place of good old fashion group vs group. Now i didn't play on any of the other servers, so I don't know exactly how they played out, but our Global chat was full of qq'rs and people saying server #3 was simply too brutal. All day people were whining about getting ganked and camped, and that their beta experience was being completely ruined by those of us enjoying the pvp system.

FFA PvP is not about killing everyone, it's about killing everyone not in your group.

A lot of people's only previous pvp experience was WoW, where you had a lot of safe zones and designated 'friends' Guilds weren't that important there since you were never really in that much danger, and it's common place to only join a guild after leveling to the cap. FFA games, almost require you to pick your allegiances early, strong friends mean you'll have an easier time, and can atleast have a false sense of security when around your guildmates. Guilds who've participated in FFA games before understand this, and they progress from game to game only getting stronger. If you were angry that you were constantly outnumbered, then you should apply to a guild NOW and hope you find one that suits you.

If you were one of those people, and you never learned to stealth by, or simply find another way around, then you should most definately roll on a PvE server. I'm not sure about the other pvp groups that were around, but ours were letting those who could press the H key free pass. A lot of people were having a blast going up against us, even though they were out numbered, and I sincerely hope you had as much fun as we did. To the guilds who teamed up and outnumbered us, I hope the farming won't discourage you from playing on a pvp server, and I hope we meet again.

Now onto the important part.... If you were thinking of rolling on a pvp server pre beta and now your not so sure, ask yourself these questions.

When you were first ganked, did you come back in stealth and try to take down the healer?

When you portalled into a place you knew was pvp enabled, did you hide first?

Did you show good sportsman ship and send the gankers a message, or continue to fight despite the odds?

Did you ever try to form your own group to have more of a fair fight?

If you answered yes to any of those questions then your almost certain to have a more enjoyable time on a pvp server than a pve.

Did you immediately cry in global chat upon getting killed?

Did you always go the same way and not in stealth?

Did you ever hurt your keyboard or yourself in anger when you were told 'None shall pass'?

Did you cuss people out everytime you were killed?

If you answered yes to more than 2 of those questions than you definitely need to roll on a PvE server

If you only answered yes to 1 of those, then there may still be hope for you yet!

FFA servers are more politically driven, and noobie gank squads are looked down upon. You won't be getting chained killed by people you don't know at release, unless of course you happen to be in an enemy guild. However that doesn't mean you will never find yourself cussing out loud, or screaming in vent. You will be killed farming, questing, exploring, and going afk. You almost always travel in groups in FFA environments and this increases a guild's 'family feel'. The joys of defeating an enemy in open world pvp can never be replicated on any pve server, and it's something you need to taste to understand. End game PVE will still flourish on pvp servers, and mark my words: The 'World's First' downing of new endgame content WILL occur on a PVP server You may think pvp'ers stay too busy killing each other, but history proves that wrong. The skill it takes to down a NPC, will never equate to the skill required in downing PC's, and because of this pvp'ers have much more experience working together, and knowing their class. Anyways this has become a wall of text, i hope you weren't ganked by it...

You will always find the same PVE content on a PVP server, but you will never find the same PVP experience on a PVE server[/quote:25ae5437e8]</description>
