I have read that windows can slow down your CPU.
I Installed some benchmark software and got the following message;
Warning W235 - Processor core voltage (Vcore) is less than rated minimum. Unless the reported value is incorrect or the processor is a different type that is not correctly detected, the voltage is lower than it should be. If you’re under-clocking the processor you may have pushed too far.
Under-clocking is a condition where the processor is operating below its frequency specification (rated speed). Sometimes the core voltage is decreased to reduce power dissipation.
Fix: If the BIOS supports processor Vcore setting, check that the voltage programmed is correct for the processor installed. If not, check whether the mainboard supports the installed processor.
I Have heard of Overclocking , but never under..... any advice before i go making a complete PIGS Ear of my PC.
Thank you in Advance |

sounds like BS to me. Newer processors have low voltages. That's it. You cannot damage a processor by underclocking. As to why you'd do it. Imagine you have a server farm with 1000 servers all with dual core processors. Your electricity bill is £25,000 a month. If you reduce your clock speeds and voltages by 10%, you may lose some processing, but save £5000 / month on your leccy bill. For these guys, underclocking makes sense!
What does the voltage say? What should your processor voltage be? AMD X2's are typically about 1.2V, but you can check just by googling "AMD X2 CORE VOLTAGE".
Im sure it'll be fine mate. If the core voltate is too low, your computer will make mistakes and crash. Wont harm it though. |

w00p's right that you wont damage it, but your system *may* crash due to the CPU not being able to 'trigger' just in the same way when you overclock too far the clock can sometimes be too fast for the chip and miss a trigger which causes it to fail/crash
check with your manual/manufacturer what FSB etc your mobo should be operating on and find the setting in your BIOS with that to check its the same and do the same with the voltages. |
