Hi All,
Recently Ive set up a router so me bro can connect his laptop to the net. He manely wants this conection for dling movies once in a while. Problem is every time he starts dling, If Im already online in a server, I will start to lag then end up loosing my conection / being kiked for high ping! If Im not online when he connects, and then I try to connect , well I cant connect to any servers and often but not always I cant even just browse the web.
I was wondering if there was any way of optimizing the connections so they dont interfier with each other, or splitting it 50/50 Im on 2mb broadband, before whilst I was on 1mb I could connect and play online ok.
I did read somwhere about a 'switch' you can use for this type of thing, but I cant seem to find much info about these 'switches' ! Does anyone know what they are or how thy work?
Thanx In Advance Gaz!
P.S> both connections are by cable were not using the wireless connection. |

what is he using to download? if its http/web-pages then you need a download manager like filezilla
if its ftp or bittorent then you need to cap the transfers. I have 2Mbit and I cap arround 200-250k/s down and 10k/s up between the two networked PCs (hey-hey's and my own). Doing this I still get good pings and certainly dont get kicked off the server. |

Hi,
Thanx fatboymicrochip, Sometimes when checked my ping is reaching like 500-700! I DLed the latest pro version with 28 day free trile, all the settings were rather hard to get to grips with!
Since then Ive found that I can actually set the router so certain traffik on a certain port can be dirrected to one pc or the other. So if I set it so only the BF ports come and go from my pc then maybe that will help. Now its easy enough to find which ports BF uses,it is a big range of them, but can anyone tell me if there is a way I can find which actual port my pc is using when connected to BF ? if that makes sence!!!
All Help Is Appretiated
Thanx Gaz! |
