Nice comp, its like the one Im gonna buy in 2010 when I have money!!!! That motherboard is excellent. Its expensive, but I wouldnt recommend getting a cheaper one for the E6600 - especially if you want to overclock.

Some suggestions for you:

Quote:
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX (2x1GB) x2 £169

OCZ sell a DDR2-800 with rediculously low timings (4-4-4-5) for £80 per 2GB

WD Caviar SE16 WD3200KS - Hard drive - 320 GB - internal - 3.5" - SATA-300 - 7200 rpm - buffer: 16 MB x2 £122

IMO, Seagate Barracuda are excellent drives. They are the only ones that come with a 5 year guarantee - perfect for RAID0. SG 320GB drives are £50 each on overclockers, saving you £22. Plus I hear that they are *almost* as fast as WD Raptors - quite impressive for a 7200RPM drive.

Thermaltake Golden Orb II K8/LGA775 LED Cooler £16.33

Ok, im sure this is a great cooler, but this one is silent (16dBA - thats 10 decidels LESS than a whisper), and apparently it cools better than the zalman CNS range. Plus its only £22 (meaning an extra £6).

Windows Vista ultimate can be bought OEM on overclockers for £130
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SW-041-MS&groupid=33&catid=20&subcat=

(32bit and 64bit editions are separate. I dont know which is better, sorry). This saves you £50.

So, all in all, if you follow these suggestions, you will save £66 with zero drop in performance / features. If you sell your 19" TFT on ebay for £100, plus do bit of busking on the high street, you've pretty much got enough money to buy this:

22" Samsung TFT!!!! Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-050-SA

(I would sincerely recommend this over the viewsonic - those brand TFTs are really rubbish...)

Happy shopping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Vista from Amazon comes with the 32 and 64 bit dvd included, anyone hear 'ebay' for the disc I dont use Laughing Get me some of my money back.

Looked at the memory, speeds are quicker with a slightly higher overclock. Good call.

The seagate drive has lower latency I will admit, but Ive had WD drives for a long time and I cannot say a bad word against them, and theres not much between them in price. I may find them cheaper with a more in depth search.

The cooler may be silent but its quite a bit bigger than the golden orb, and as I tuck myself away in a separate room and spend most of my time with a headset on, noise is not much of a worry for me.

I have to say the monitor is just a wish, so I suppose cost should not come into it. But I couldnt help taking it into account as I feel, with the way games are heading, a widescreen monitor is a must for any future system. Having put together a list costing a grand for parts, scrimping on a monitor is not an option so I go with you on that, the samsung is the better piece of kit.

Sure, I understand. One thing though - will you be able to sell the extra disc? I mean, you will get two editions, but only one licence, no?

A disc without a licence is pretty much worthless, even to ebay newbs!

I did read a review (which I can't find again now I want it Sad ) that said it was acceptable to install the vista discs on different computers. You have me thinking now that it may not be possible, more research needed. If so then overclockers seems the best bet

Nice system but you could get a better power supply for £11 more which would easily cope with future upgrades http://thermaltech.co.uk/shop/thermaltake-w0105rb-700w-toughpower-p-83.html

because future upgrades will drain more power and it is better to have more power than less.
