Hey guys,
If your running BF2 on Vista with either a X-fi series or Audigy soundcard and you cant get the 'Creative X-fi' settings (Low through Ultra HIgh) to work becasue of driver issues ive found the solution!!!
This link is to the BETA driver for the X-fi series and Audigy soundcards that fixes the OpenAL problems that cause the 'Creative X-fi' setting not to work:
http://connect.creativelabs.com/beta/default.aspx
WARNING: Backup your important files before installing this BETA driver as it could cause problems with the functionality of your O/S. Remember BETA's are not fully lincensed or tested and you do run the risk if you decide to install.
Vista will say its not certified by Microsoft but you should continue installing the driver- closing the uncompability messages as they come up.
BTW: Im using a X-fi Fatal1ty Pro soundcard (i.e. the one without the drive bay)
Now when i first installed the driver and rebooted my machine, my system couldnt pick up the soundcard properly so i uninstalled the soundcard from the Device Manager and the driver automatically reinstalled the soundcard.
You'll notice that you'll need to set your Audio Console settings back to the way you had them. Once you've finished doing all that f'ing around open BF2, go into the Audio settings and choose Creative X-fi. BOOM! it now works.
Hope that helps y'all out |
