Would like to have a vote on if people think Wake should be on the rotation. Between us regular players on BF2 we know that as soon as wake comes on the server population drops by at least 30%.

Every night we ask our selfs on TS why is this map in the rota?.

What are your views?.

i think that most people like wake island, i personally dont like it, but mrix has to do whats best for the server, its not easy getting the rotation right, i think its a case of trial and error Rolling Eyes

its all about whats best the server

Even though I dont play the game BF2 that much I guess I get the server started more so than anyone most days! The server doesnt start by its self! a minority of clan members put the effort in most days to help get it started which includes me.
I have played BF2 for over 2 years and have been involved with the map rotation within that time. Its a very hard job to get the rotation right and maps that go in are map rotations that will increase public players on the server.
We need a popular server and I dont think many members will come on a dead one really.
Basically if all members put down their own personal map rotation each would be completely different so its is very hard to please all please remember this.
As for Wake Island I havnt seen it damage the server but I will keep an eye on it.
Its becoming very hard now to get a good map rotation with falling numbers and it might come to the point a 32 player map rotation maybe be best for better game play but we will see how it goes and what members think.

I don't envy your task mrix. i think wake will split peoples opinions. when you have an even match with good pilots on each side then it can be ok. but if your on the usmc side and all the good pilots are on the mec it kills the game as you can't get anywhere near a flag. for me its the soghua or whatever its called map. can't find my way round the damn thing and keep getting lost!!!!!!!!

I hardly play bf2 at the min but the only thing i can say is this server needs to remain busy to keep our server alive and i for one love wake and so do many others but its personal preferences and we cant think like that ! Map rotations are extremely hard to get right and Mrix keep up your good work mate !

It most definatly a hard choice and all the maps can be ruined by poor players but wake seems to be more so especially if the poor players are the pilots. I personally not that keen on the map but still play it if it comes round and have also noticed a sudden drop in server attendance as soon as Wake comes up.

Theres also the possibilty that wake seems to be on a lot of servers and perhaps people are more fed up of seeing it rather than it being a poor map to them.

Either way i will continue Smile

When Wake finished rotation tonight it had 37 players on which is a fair number then it went to Jalalabad which then dropped to 23 in numbers so you could say jalalalbad is a problem also? infact jalalabad has a drop in numbers also quite often and in one rotation we had it was killing the server dead. It can also be the same for Karkand and basically other maps.

With BF2 coming to the end of its shelf life it’s a hard one. I got very frustrated the other night on Wake when there were only 10 players, and we could not buy a flag as the air assets on the Chinese side owned us at every turn, and I speak as a player who has always loved Wake. Maybe its time to get a smaller server?? I have come back to BF2 recently and am enjoying it as much as ever, but the number of players is dwindling, and the map rotation is critical if we are going to keep the numbers at a level to provide a good game. 37 is a reasonable number, but on a 64 player map?? Maybe not, and to drop to 23 is terrible and does not provide a good game.
We have had this question raised as long as I have been a member of this clan ( 2 years since you asked) and there has never been a definitive answer, but how long can we keep a 64 slot server that is rarely full??

i think that weve just got to stick with it until until the map rotation is sorted,i dont think that wake itself is the problem...theres different factors to take into account

personally i dont care what map i play as long as there is plenty of players on, i dont see the point in having a vote as to wether it stays or not..... its not going to solve anything

as long as the members continue to support the server i think it should get back to normal soon

Its easy to say that to drop to a 32 player map but last night I think I had a few of the best games iv ever had. The server was maxed out and with gd player and it was just carnage!
We had awsome games on Karkland and Mastuur! There no way we can go down to a 32 server because there are plenty of times that we can pack out the server.

As for the Wake syndrome, I like the map I think it is very tactically sound map but i can understand why people dont enjoy it.

Map rotation is one of the hardest things to employ and often when people come on the server they are public members who are regular players.
Unfortunatly its one of those things u could sit and change every 2 min, I know lots of other maps that kill servers, but u gota use um all cos there are people that like the variety!

Its a tough one Mrix, I envy you patients. Very Happy

I think the times that the server is pretty empty outweigh the times it is full at the mo. Whenever i have been on in the last month or two it has had less than 40 players on. I think the switch to 32 player maps would be good at this point, just to keep the gameplay up. I cant stang flag hopping around when there is nobody on! lol!

It must be hard trying to keep everyone happy when you don't even have their opinion. On both the last two occasions we have noticed and commented on TS straight away on the drop of numbers as soon as Wake comes on. That wasnt the case when it recently appeared on the rotation (approx 10 days ago??) But know perhaps you could say its lost it's "Freshness" ?

I have no idea what its like to try and police a server and have no idea how easy it is to set up the following idea, if at all possible: Have the normal rotation but rotate the Wake Map. For eg, Kark-Mash-Sharqui-Jalala-Dalian and then, Wake >> Kubra>>Songhau>>Fushee>>Dragon>>Zatar>> I know it means its not a fixed rotation but at least it attempts to keep everyone happy by rotating that last, final map. Res and Public wont know whats up next. If for eg, Karkand is before Wake then people will know to leave after the 2nd Karkand. It also means we dont forget all maps, if we are serious about playing regular matches we may restrict who we play as both us and perhaps then will only play certain maps.

Man, wake island is an awesome map! I love the way its so one-sided. People switch to the chinese side so they can bash US choppers using the jets, probably thinking they pwwwwwwwn because they got 1 million kills for bombing the carrier, but its so easy to win as USMC.

At the start of the map, take a full blackhawk really wide (so you virtually exit the radar) and low (as low as you can) over the sea, to either south beach or the northmost flag and you'll capture it instantly. Then rinse and repeat on the other flags. Jets find it really hard to shoot a blackhawk that's skimming the water as when they aim at you, they find the floor rushing up to meet them pretty quickly Razz

BTW: Off Topic, but did anyone else notice Crysis has been subtely pushed back a few months? xD

I enjoy wake, though it can be one sided and the number do drop, but it also has a 64 player map that is always full.
I dont envy mrix having to pick a rotation to suit everyone.

But has the drop in numbers anything to do with the Punkbuster problem a lot of players are experiencing ??? (just another fault with the game).
