Ive got 2 ATI Radeon 2900XT's and they both come with a Black Box bundle password each.

When they are released i'll be able to HL2:EP2, Portal and Team Fortress 2 (Black Box Bundle) for FREE, TWICE!!

Right then, Imitation wicker.

Which 2900XT's did you get? I have just been offered my old second job, which i lost after my latest driving escapade, so will get getting an extra couple hundred quid a month, so now is the time to get my hands on the DX10 card and make myself happy - so.. what did you go for? I'm edging towards getting the 1gb card, and not worrying about crossfire?

anyone else got any input?

Hey Ghettosmurf,

Ive got 2 GeCube Radeon HD 2900XT's (512mb)- you cant find the GeCube 2900XT's anymore, it was a real struggle finding a second one! But Sapphire are the real main fellas for any high end ATI Graphic cards.

Ive got 2 x 512MB but if id waited a couple of months i WOULD have got 2 x 1GB models. I mean 1GB Crossfire will be enough- but 2GB Crossfire, WHOA! someone get out the mansize tissues out baby! Very Happy
Besides your only paying about £40-£50 more for the 1GB version anyhow.

Regardless which memory size you choose the clock speeds are both the same. Just make sure you get a Crossfire 3200 Xpress/AMD 580X Crossfire or Intel i975x motherboard for 2900XT's in Crossfire.

You'll need two 2x3 pin power pins from a PSU for one to work, but a 2x3 and 2x4 for one is advised- ATI Overdrive can be enabled.
I suggest buying either a Enermax Galaxy DXX or an Antec TruePower Quattro.
Believe me ive just saved you monnths of fecking around there. I bought the Enermax Galaxy (non-DXX) and had to piss about the net for weeks trying to find two 6P+2 enermax modular cables, there not easy to come by.

I have a an MSI Platinum Motherboard wich is on the 975x chipset already - which is crossfire certified - already got 2 x 1900XTX's

As for the power supply, i have a Tagan 700W with 4 x 6pin PCI-E Connectors.

These cards don't require a Crossfire master card do they? They'll just work? Dunno about Crossfireing 1 x 1gb cards just yet tho - due to heat, finances and me just being a bit sceptical as to the overall benefit - would bemore fun to stick with teh 1gb card and get a PhysX card Smile Cheers for the input though. Best one i've seen is the Overclockers own branded 1gb card for £317.00

ATI Radeon 2900XT's dont need a Master/Slave setup, their Crossfire 'Native'. They connect to each other with 2 Crossfire bridges and Crossfire is enabled via CCC- thats it. Very Happy

I wouldnt mind getting 2 x 1GB 2900XT's, but that means alot of fecking about on ebay and using up alot of spare time i dont have.

Im looking foward to using ATI Overdrive in Crossfire too. keep ya posted when my new build is up and running.

Aegia PhysX- funny you mention that. In Crossfire. one card does rendering, other card does physics. Not alot of games use the Aegia PhysX yet, but that'll change in the near future.

As far as the benefits go of the 1GB 2900XT goes; i think by looking at the specs, its better than a 768MB 8800 Ultra- thought the 8900 might give it a good run.

Not planning on Crossfire'ing the two cards just yet as i said, the 975x motherboard i have will only run pci-E in 2 x 8 - would that work with the HD2900 in Crossfire.

Not going to AMD as i don't understand the clock speeds Smile and i already have a cpu lol

I've checked the Crossfire certified parts and your board must be a MSI 975X Plat. which means two 2900XT's WILL work in Crossfire without any problems. Smile
