hi all

i have gone and got a copy of crysis and i must say what a game. the only trouble is im getting bad lag and thats with the settings on high not altra. my computer is an AMD Athlon 64, 4400x2 dule core with a 160gig hard drive 2gig of mem and a BFG geforce 8800 GTS oc2 640mb card running vista. so why the lag??? i thought this would piss all over the game but its not. dose any one know what might be the problem??? im thinking of adding 4gig instead of 2gig as vista eats up most of what i have got already. please advise.

thanx

Are you running Vista ? have you checked that the game is running in direct x 10?
you can run it in both and I think default is set to direct x 9 ?
Basically if you are running Vista go here..

On your PC go to start menu then click on the Vista games in the program list and you will see that Crysis logo has been added to it... right click the icon there and it will give an option in the sub menu to run the game in sirect x 10.
Hope this helps
cheers

i had this same problem. was running the game in dx10, it set the settings automatically for me to ultra high. it was unplayable. so i decreased settings to high but it was still way too bad. i have q6600, 8800gt, 2 gig ballistix ram. looked on net and basically unless you've got at least 1 8800gtx forget dx10. when on dx9 it runs fine. if you have the option of ultra high then you are running it in dx10 as ultra high is not available in dx9 mode.switch to dx9 and you should be able to play it fine with everything set to high. there's barely any difference between the 2 anyway.
p.s. its possibly to forcefully set the settings to very high for dx9 in the config files. tweakguides website tells you how to do this if you wanna try it. i have and works fine for me.

your having lag because its crysis.

i got an intel dual core, 4 gig ram, 8800gtx, and get about 25fps on full settings on dx9 in the wide open areas.

Crysis needs to be run in direct x 10 if you run Vista and have a direct x 10 card.
A friend of mine was running it in DX9 which was lagging him, he now has changed it to run in DX10 and all is fine. Its will lag if you allow windows to emulate.
But Crysis is thirsty thats for sure Wink
cheers

I played it in DX9 with a Radeon 1950 Pro and had no problems with it - 2G RAM and conroe extreme basically undid its flies and watered it.

However running around in an electric Romper suit is shite and all i can say is thanks but no thanks.

Far Cry 2 however is now getting rave reviews from Journo's who have played it and apparently it could be the game of the summer! So yeah get yer settings sorted on Crysis cos another game is out soon that will make better use of it!

Also part of the Alan Wake engine is now being used in the the 3D Mark software for testing multi threading therefore Alan Wake = Multi Threaded = First PC game multi Threaded = probably load of shite = Still gonna buy Quad core and salivate until it comes out!!

this says it all Brian - notorious game (prob the worst) for bringing any pc to its knees

gfx cd is pretty good but more ram is the best bet unless you REALLY want to get thru some dosh

I have 2 8800GTX (BFG o/c) in sli and 4 gig ram and on ultra its still jerky in parts

i read some tips recently about getting it to run better and i'll post again if i can find them

hi all

thanx for all of the advice about this game. i think the best thing to do is take it training with me toss it into the ring and kick the shit out of it Twisted Evil and that will solve all my problems. unless i had a computer from nassa its not worth my time.

thanx
