Cursing in a church: Playing BF2142 on a Mac [Solved]

Crew,

I'm new to this game, and yes I play it on an Apple Macbook Pro. Flame me all you can: let's not have the PC-Guy VS Mac-Guy on this forum.

Does anyone know when there will be a patch for Apple? The amount of servers we can play on is decreasing rapidly!

Nothing wrong with a Mac, they have their advantages over pc's however games isn't one of them Smile

as for the patch, no idea... but i don't think the latest pc patch was released too long ago was it?

I recently bough the game, without any patch we're at v1.25. Every time I open the game a popup warns me that I need to upgrade to 1.40. Wich is nowhere to be found though... According to other post on several forums, EA is not even responding to messages or just tells people they are working on it.

Wanneer wordt Battlefield 2142 voor de Apple ge-update naar ver. 1.4, zodat Mac's weer in de pas lopen met de PC's? Het aantal servers waarop ik nu kan spelen wordt met de dag minder omdat de servers aan het updaten zijn. Graag uw reactie.

Hi you All,

Same story for me SandmouseJr!. I'm also playing the game on a MAC (didn't I kill you last , but opportunities to toast some people are decreasing rapidly last few days. Average amount of servers I can join for the moment is about 3 or 4 per day.. while for 2 weeks ago this number was around 30 or more.

Let's hope there will be a patch for the MAC soon. EA proudly released the game for MAC along with a few other games, so hopefully support will come with that too.

...i'll try to find some answers at EA.

...but first kill a few on the only server left....

Having a quick poke around, it seems there is no date anounced for mac compatible patch yet. Great customer service from them as always. Rolling Eyes

As for the mac vs PC thing, your mac kicks my pc in the nuts performance wise so i'll happily stay away from that one! Smile

Please read the entire reply of EA (in dutch) below.

Summary: EA does not support BF2142 on the Mac. They want me to contact Aspyr. I replied to them that their contacts as a game producer would have allowed very easy access to that kind of information. Now it's up to a single consumer to fetch the info. Besides that, it is strange they won't take responsibility because the name EA is all over the game even though it's played on a Mac...

Wat een bedroevend antwoord. Wellicht hadden jullie de moeite kunnen nemen om even voor mij (en vele andere Apple gebruikers) te informeren. Jullie contacten als games-producent zijn uiteraard vele malen beter dan de contacten van een enkele consument. Daarnaast staat jullie bedrijfsnaam uitgebreid op de verpakking van het genoemde product.

I wrote an e-mail as advised by EA to Aspyr:

Hello there!

I've contacted EA, **** ******, Electronic Arts, Customer Support Team in The Netherlands and asked him when BF2142 for Apple wil be updated. I received a very disappointing e-mail from Mr. Kessel telling me that I should contact aspyr.com for inquiries regarding BF 2142 for Apple. Can you please inform me, and many other Apple users, when this game will be updated?

I am sorry to say that we did not publish Battlefield 2142 for Mac. We have only published Battlefield 1942 for Mac. The information I can find indicates Battlefield 2142 is one of the first Mac games Electronic Arts has published in house.

EA made their apologies and said they would straighten things out with their support department. Too bad there was so much bad information flying around.
