not what I expected , graphics good , keys not working how brune and others said they should ?? not sure if it will keep me intersted past the beta stage let alone the free month after release , dont like the feeling that your just following and watching and then guessing which keys to press to fight and what combos etc, took awhile to get used to few things and died a lot at frst and couldnt get of the beach , looks very complicted the further you get into it and remembering all the different keys that you need to push to get things to happen, thinkyou ned to play it a lot to get the most out of it and to keep on top of remembering what evrything does , prefer cod4 which I found easy to start with and not very complicted and got into , I dont think Im going to be able to put in the hours required to get the most out of this game , what does every one else think ? |

An MMO/RPG fantasy set game (AoC/Oblivion/The Witcher etc) and a FPS (COD 4, UT, Quake, CS:S) are at completely different ends of the gaming scale I'm afraid me old m8 and cannot be compared.
Remember how frustrating COD4 was for you back in the beginning and now after mucho practice and playing you are a devil with a gun! Think of this type of game as another stairway of learning for your good self! Unfortunately at the moment you are in a sub-basement with rusty pipes and mould, but give it a little while and some patience and you may finally reach penthouse level
My first impressions after 3 hours or so play as a Cimmerian Conquerer.
Pros
1.Love the combat and associated sounds and gore!
2.Voice acting excellent (most quests are sound driven with subtitles) and quests seem good and story driven.
3. Looks and sounds awesome.
4. Fun
5. Scantily Clad NPC's and lady boys
6. Swearing!
Cons
1. Interface not as friendly as i would like
2. Difficult to track friends/party members
3. LAGGGGGGGGG!!! especially inside.
4. Maybe a little too easy (I was able to attack and defeat 4-5 enemies at once) - I died once in my 3+ hours last night and that was because i lagged into a lvl14 mob.
5. Some of the environment - ie bushes are more like brick walls! - though shalt not pass!
6. Load times (one for mook) - these can be terrible.
I'm sure with a bit of tweaking on my part and a few more hours of getting used to everything my gripes will be minimal.
Overall I really enjoyed the brief experience of last night and hopefully in the next few days we could get some group questing tried and tested.
Feeling positive, let's see how the next couple of weeks unfold
Edit. Who thought mrix's character looked like a big jessie? ! |

Yes the graphics look great my end, I`ll take some screenies later. The game also run very smooth no lag what so ever

Yes big problem as you couldnt really play the game at all It must be your keyboard regional settings wrong surely ?.

looks very complicted the further you get into it and remembering all the different keys that you need to push to get things to happen |
The key`s will become second nature um sure! like riding a bike!
and being complex I think thats what will make the game have longevity.

The complicated stuff will be frustrating, but i'm used to it after playing Everquest / Witcher etc, and I hope you keep up with it too Remmy, at least till the rest of us get on and get whooped beside you.
Hope the getting together with your clan / friends is easy in game.
Mrix, whilst your taking Pics can you do some from the charactor selection screen so we can see what each 'type' looks like, warrior / mage etc..
thanks. |

Apparently we are playing a slightly dated client which is in debug mode, so this is responsible for some peeps crashing etc. Also it appears the game is using nearly 2gb of memory because of the debugger (which is also meant to be leaky!) - how much fact/fiction not sure just some forum stuff I readed! |

Having played it quite a bit, i do enjoy it.
The fighting is the best part of the game, i love how the combos work etc.
The graphics look ok, i wasn't blown away by them but they do look pretty.
The interface is a bit sloppy and could confuse some of the newer players.
Whilst in beta it runs like crap on alot of peoples machines, only those with super pc's run it ok and even those people suffer from memory crashes etc, this beta really does seem to need 4gig of ram. I think when it's released it will run alot better on peoples machines plus it will have DX10 enabled.
I seriously don't think this game will engross me as much as WoW has nor will i be buying the game on release, well not unless things change but i will be giving it a fair go over the next few weeks.
Judging from the beta, i don't feel this game has the wow factor that i was hoping for, i've been looking for years for another game to take me away from WoW and the only games that have managed, aren't even mmo's.
Most people on the forums are slagging this game off completely, and bad word of mouth isn't a good thing for a game that hasn't even been released yet.
Anyways i'm gonna keep playing the game, hopefully they will keep improving it and it will grow on me.
I know you can't really judge a game by the first 13 levels of play but i just want it to impress me enough to want to pre-order it and play it for atleast a month.
Rant over! lol |

It definitely IS a dated client, its a few weeks back according to people that are in closed and general. the debug thing is also true as best I can tell.
What you have to remember is its basically the newbie zone you get in the open beta, seems the game really opens up when you hit your 20's. I am actually starting to get excited about AoC again, in part I think due to the number of others that will be getting it. |

Previous Betas I have been in allow you to update the beta client top retail though if patches and such are anything to go by, that could eb a big update in itsel, especially as the client is already out of date. |
