A couple of guys I know have been able to log in without getting the email back and couple others had email back saying they entered the wrong beta code.. but were able to log in.
If you were able to enter the beta key on the webby before it died it might be worth just trying to log in if you haven't. This isn't the case for everyone as plenty others have tried and got no where though. |

This does however have a certain sublime irony for all those whiners on the AoC forums saying how they are sick of Conan and off they are going to the War servers.
Conan had the best start, as stated, its just turned into a sad yawn-fest.
I was hoping Brune you would give us a shining review so I could lay Conan to rest.
Oh well, Fallout should be arriving soon. |

I am hoping War can offer what I hoped for from AoC in regards to pvp. After all that's what online play is really for... knowing the guy you just killed is a real person and quite possibly freaking at his monitor.
Due to my limited playtime I found myself avoiding PvP so as to get some levelling done but.... pvp is what I bought the game for, its just any pvp i did slowed me down from levelling and there for being able to see content and pvp on a level(ish) playing field.
The fact you get xp for levelling from pvp itself in War is what made me think yeah maybe I will give it a go afterall. Also with it being Realm vs Realm rather than completely open free for all there is a structure and a reason to kill.

Spot on mate, I suspect anyone leaving Conan for War due to technical difficulties is going to be very disappointed! |

Once you are in it seems pretty stable and smooth, not impressed with the graphics compared to Conan but I can live with that.
As a former Games Workshop gamer it's really cool to see the lore and world brought to life.
Still wish it was a 40k one though! |

So is the designated server Open or Core Kop?
What class have you chosen? |

Couldnt tell you mate, playing a core server for beta but will be going Open for release. Going to be playing Destruction but not under 2es tags for this one i'm afraid.
As for class either Disciple of Kaine, Chaos Magus or Squig Herder even. Disciple plays like a Bear Shaman so is quite familiar but I quite like the idea of a more ranged dps class for a change as I haven't really played one before. |

For bob
I have played for a few hours over the past couple of nights and I am suprised to find that I am enjoying it The beta client is very stable and I have only encountered a couple of minor bugs (apart from all my toons keep getting deleted!).
The Guild system appears to be well implemented and the GUI Guild interface has several interesting features present (calender, guild tactics, etc)
The GUI works and is well laid out (I think they stole it from somewhere) ,this and the Guild setup pisses over AoC's feeble system.
Graphically it is not near AoC but it is not bad. Medium rigs should run it without any stress.
The gameplay is very much standard mmo fayre for solo PvE BUT there are some lovely touches such as the Public Quests.
Most importantly the PvP is fun!. It actually feels non stressful, chilled out if you will and actually leads to some smiling wtf stuff (I have only played scenarios so far)
RvR PvP is where this game will hold it's own and from what i can make out alliances and tactics will be the order of the day. You also get XP for PvP - hurrah!!!
So far I have tried several classes/races but my current faves are the Dark Elf Sorceress (Online MMO porn ftw!) and the Chaos Magus - both of which are long range high DPS casters.
Overall the game is very player friendly, has well implemented RvR/PvP and actually is fun to pick up and play and then put down again.
I think WAR will offer a pleasant experience for casual players and hardcore players alike.
Footnote
I reserve the right to cancel my WAR account between 4-8 weeks from launch through boredom! |

Cheers Brune.
I'm really torn about Conan right now. Its a good little 2hours a time job, and if the PVP patch finally arrives and doesn't break everything I think it can be redeamed.
Its just so disappointing really, but thats in comparison to the expectation they built up.
An unrealistic view probably.
But as an old EQ player/addict, I'm very tempted to try some fantasy mmo'ing. Im a muscly manly Conan'esque wall of a man in real life........
( sorry my missus nearly died from laughing so hard at my blatent lie, making it hard to type )
.... so playing an elf or dwarf could be a good break from the world of dirty nappies and bills.
Now I just need a working FPS and my life will be complete. |

My thoughts exactly. They built it up and didn't deliver. With WAR I have no expectations which means it can only get better |

Cant really understand why you lot are having such a downer on Conan really
I mean most of you must of played it for counless hours and during that time must of had many laughs and fun times or you would have give up at the first hurdle..
I myself have reached level 62 and personally loved the game,, levels were great graphics awesone
I dont think I have ever been so addicted to any game to be totally honest!, I mean I spent almost all one saturday getting enough money for me horse
The reason I have not played it, is mainly because I dont really want to spend all my time playing one game,, and these games are really just life steelers
I dont think for a second that we have seen the end of age of conan by far as the foundations are there and it makes perfect business sense to keep improving the game all the time...
I can see at some point many returning
cheers

You are lucky m8. AoC is your first MMORPG experience, your the kid who has only just accessed the cookie jar.
I've eaten a few cookies and AoC failed in a few important areas for me. PvP being one of them. I waited a long time for that game and several things that were meant to be in game on release were not or were broken, bar brawls anyone? Decent crafting system? ;/ I mean the GUI and Guild stuff was laughable.
To me it became apparent that with AoC the priority was all cosmetic, it may have looked lovely but it is lacking a lot in the gameplay department. I hit level 69 but felt there was a lack of content and had to grind pretty much after about levels 45-50.
I may return to it one day, I may not. WAR is my next stop gap, I'm not expecting big things so it might just surprise me. With AoC, Funcom did not deliver what they hyped. |

You must of had a fairly good time playing it or why would you have stuck it out for so long? level 69! how many hours in stats did it take to achieve that!
I mean it might not of been perfect but for a new MMO its been pretty good
Cheers
