Had a very quick go of the demo earlier. Wasn't impressed at first glance but I might give it another go. Though if I do, there is a good chance that the running 'effect' will make me spew. |

I tend to get a lot of motion sickness from some games and to be honest that side of it the running was a main part that made me feel ill
cheers

Apparently you can turn it off in the options. Not had chance to check what difference it makes. |

Well, i downloaded the demo onto my crappy UK machine the other night.
The game plays a lot like Operation Flashpoint, it's a very deep, complex game that you cannot jump straight into unlike COD or BF2.
I however love the realism and depth of this game and can't wait to play it on my decent computer back in Canada.
Many people will play Arma2 for 30 minutes and dismiss it due to it's complexity which is unfortunate because underneath I'm sure a lot of you will find this a brilliant game that becomes deeply satisfying over time.
While this game isn't perfect, it does have some bugs and glitches that need to be addressed according to various reviews, the true scale and realism of this game cannot be underestimated, it's so damn tense knowing that 1 bullet can be your ultimate downfall.
Unfortunately i know this game won't be popular here as most people won't give it a proper shot or even a decent look because of previous comments made by some, which is a damn shame.
I know Modern Warfare 2 will probably be THE next big thing here and don't get me wrong I'm really looking forward to it. |

Having given it a few more minutes, all importantly having turned the head shake right down, it played quite well. Can see me playing it a bit and possibly even buying it when not totally skint.
It really is a pain in the ass of a game but in a kind of good way. The mission can come to a really abrupt end on a regular basis. Thanks the lord for autosave lol. |

Only playing around with the single player atm. That's quite hard enough without letting real people get involved. |

Been on a demo server for approx one hour spent the whole ime running what seemed like mile to get near the battle could not get any vehicles or fast travel to work. Once there was shot dead. The maps seems stupidly big as the servers i was getting on had 16 players max. Gonna need some seriouse convincing to get this game no matter how cheap. |

Look guys....
Cyrus is right, this type of game needs a little time to grow on you.
You can't go on and get 5 headshots then switch it of and go to the pub.
The demo gives you an idea BUT the full game really takes the biscuit....
Don't worry about having to run a long way...on the big full game servers you have mobile spawn points right next to the action plus in most servers you can select whatever kit you want (despite statring as an AT or corpsman etc.) In one server I counted about 50 different rifles to choose from including XM8, G36, MP5, M4, M18, machine guns the size of houses etc with masses of variation on addons ,scopes, grenade launchers not to mention Javelin and Stinger....mines, laser designators, I could go on all day.........its every BF2 players' wet dream.
And vehicles ! well don't get me started but lets just say there are masses of these too including cobra AH1, UH1, F-35, A10 Tankbuster......ETC.
And its not my fault you get shot a lot...be more carefull and hide behind a tree !
IT IS a sim tho...not a twitcher but you do get twichy when the rounds are coming down !
By the way.... Press enter on your number pad to get 3rd person view...the motion blur is nowhere near as bad.
PS last thing...check these screens out too and tell me the graphics are not good... http://www.shacknews.com/screenshots.x?gallery=10523&game_id=4636&id=124429#img124428 |
