So, with BFBC2 coming out I took the plunge and invested in shiny new components. Intel Quad core, 4gb ram, Win7 64bit, DX11 card. Trouble is BFBC2 will absolutely not run on my system. Every time I go to start the game the machine locks up solid before I get to the first splash screen. Have changed graphics card, power supply, hard drive, any number of reinstalls, switched off everything else running and then went for a completely fresh install on Win7. Same result everytime. Every other game I have runs sweet, never an issue. It seems Im not the only one however as there are plenty of forum posts around from others, trouble is there are no answers.
Spare a thought for me the next round you play, bast*rds! |

Cant see anything causing the problem with the add on components
Maybe a silly question but have you actually updated the motherboards drivers, after a re-install of windows it very easy to forget... if you have, what is your motherboard spec????
Cheers

It's new everything. Updated every driver as soon as I had the issue, and again after fresh Win7 install. I changed all the components because I couldn't think of anything else After the new OS install the only thing I installed was steam and the game, so no chance of other software causing the problem (unless it's steam!!). I thought about buying a physical copy, but if that don't work I'm stuck with two copies (60 quids worth) of game I can't use |

I downloaded mine from steam along with a few others and all seems ok this end..
Makes me wonder if it could be a firewall issue??
Running out of options
Cheers

I never get the option! I click to launch the game and within a couple of seconds the PC locks up, never to recover. I even went and watched the last half hour of a film on the telly to see if it would come back, no joy . I have to reboot to get control. I might buy the game on disk (when wify is not looking ) see if it's steam related. |

No router. PC-Modem-Virgin. Pretty straightforward. |

You have to change the DX version in your Settings.ini file in my documents Chaos, not sure if you'll have it tho if you haven't been able to boot the game at all :S it'll be set to Auto by default tho. |

Thinking out loud M8 maybe bois update or a little more volts to the cpu or ram or both, As it very cpu heavy i would maybe try a little more voltage, check using cpu-z as the bois doesnt always give a true voltage reading (hoping im not teaching you to suck eggs) |

600W, but I can't see this being an issue. The game does not even fire up, so hardly likely to be taxing the power supply! And if you think about the games requirements, my machine should run it without breaking sweat.:
| Quote: |
Minimum Frostbite Engine PC Specifications for BFBC2 & BF1943
Processor: Core 2 Duo @ 2.0GHz
Main memory: 2GB
Graphics card: GeForce 7800 GT / ATI X1900
Graphics memory: 256MB
OS: Windows XP |
As for the BIOS its as up to date as it can be (June 09) and although the CPU is not running anywhere near max voltage (1.07 against 1.36 max) again I don't think this is an issue given the minimum game specs and the fact it won't even start in the first place!
I have ordered a hard copy from Play which should be here tomorrow, fingers (and everything else) crossed |
