I was wondering if anyone knew the difference between dvd or cd-rom as far as game play or anything related to that? Is one better than the other? thanks for the help.

Not totally sure but I think its because the DVD can hold so much more information than the CD ROM as the CD Rom will hold about 700mb compared to 4.5gb of the DVD etc.

hi there

well...for starters, DVD rom users are probably about 60-70%+ of all computer users nowadays. They are ALOT faster than a CD-ROM and are becoming commonly used for game storage as games are becoming much larger than ever now. If you are wondering which to buy, i would without a doubt stick with a DVD-ROM as you can buy a decent, fast one for about £30-40 now.

Although you can buy a CD-ROM for about £5-10 now, they are considerably slower than a DVD-ROM and you will not be able to play a majority of the newly realeased games on that format as games are now, as i said, more commanly, on DVD disks format nowadays.

Basically, the difference is all about space and speed, a DVD can hold upto 8.5GB of data on each disk and buying a DVD-ROM will enable you to install and run that disk with all that data whereas a CD-ROM drive will be unable to cope with all that data :*(.

hope this helps (sorry about the confusing way i write)

regards

Dave aka bush
