Help needed!!!
I have just upgraded my RAM and have 2gb DDR, and bought a new GeForce7950 GT OC PCIe. Everything was running smoothly until I upgraded my CPU to a AMD Athlon 4800+ Dual core. My power supply is more than I need. I am strapped so had to use my existing socket 939 mobo and my RAM is DDR 400 unbranded. Never the less I should be reasonably smug about my PC for what little I paid for it...BUT I'M NOT!!!!
Now I keep losing the connection to your server. Sometimes I can be in for a hour then lose connection, sometimes I lose connection after 2 minutes. I'm guessing that it is the processor that's screwing things up. I have wiped my hard drive and reinstalled everything including my copy of Windows XP, but this had made no difference.
Has anyone had similar problems, and can let me know what to do to sort this.
Cheers
Andy |

I doubt this is down to your setup. There has been a few problems with connection recently. Just a few days ago everyone on the server had connection problems without the server crashing, we just all lost connection. TBH I don't know what the problem is, some days I go for hours without a glitch, the next I lag like a basta*d and lose connection myself. Blame EA/Multiplay/BF2/Tony Blair (delete where applicable) |

I agree with kaos i doubt its your pc more a broad band conection issue,i had this problem the other day playing b/f2 kept loosing conection,my problem was the d-link all i had to do was switch it off wait a while then switch it back on .whos your service provider? have you called them ,mabe there doing something at ther end? do you a have d-link or modem? can you reset them?
Was your pc ok before the upgrade? |

yeah... we've been having some pretty major problems with player numbers in BF2 and BF2142 recently..
in the server browser it seems to show the server as having like 300ms+ ping for us and in game its fine (50-80ms)

Gotta agree, there is no reason for you to disconnect to the server if it was a pc issue! More likely you would just freeze and stop responding, or crash to desktop, not just loose connection!
Hope things get better mate, i think multiplay are putting priority on the 2142 servers and this may be having an effect on the bf2 servers! Thats one conspiracy anyway!

I will have a look into what you guys have said, and check my modem and service provider. I've been getting 2800+ pings as well!!! I'm with NTL and they seem pretty reliable, but they have dicked me about before.
Cheers anyway |

After all that, I've had no internet connection since @ 18:00 last night (Sat). Now 14:35 on Sunday and finally back on. Wife has been on nights, house to myself with no nagging "are you still on that computer!", crate of kronenberg, large meaty feast pizza from dominos, and I end up watching shitty tv. 300 channels of garbage. Good old NTL eh! |
