New Computer Time

WOOHOO Its time to buy a new computer0r! (I've only been waiting 2 years).

Im compiling my list, and the question is, can anyone recommend a good monitor for me? I was looking at the 22" TFT's out recently and had my eye on this:

Anyone have any better suggestions? The 24" ones are unfortunately too expensive. £200 extra (ebay price is £450) for an extra 2" diagonal? Bah Mad

I am also looking for a good watercooling set (for E6600, yes that baby is gonna burrrrrn) and was thinking of this:

These are about £150 in the UK, but will a single 240mm radiator cool the CPU and GPU? (I hope to buy an 8800 based card).

with the water cooling, get the kit ur self, the kit you have linked to although it has a really good pump and radiator, the water block and pipes are rubbish, alpha cool use 3/8inch piping which is too small for good water flow, 1/2inch pipe is what you need.
From personal experience i wouldnt worry about cooling your GPU, its quite expensive for a good GPU cooler and u dont really need it! just cool the CPU.

Yeah I liked the idea of a kit, as it meant you'd get all the bits you need + instructions & stuff Razz

As for the GPU, yes I see what you mean, I dont want to overclock it anyway, what do you get, a couple of MHz?... Whereas on the E6600, you can get a GHz o_O

Don't you need a reservoir in there somewhere? Or can you just prime the system and hope its enough water? (like a combi boiler, lol) Laughing

And what is a T-Piece? :S

While we're on the topic, any case you recommend to fit all this in? I was looking at this one:

with cases the bigger the better, if ur going to use a 8800 GPU they take up a lot of room and the water pump needs to go on the bottom of the case, so you need a very long case!
you dont need a reservoir, they take up more space and cost more money, use a T peice set up with a fill port, it makes filling the system much easier and no chance of spilling water over any electrics Laughing

Well, its gonna be another month before I can get all the cash together, but at least Im clued up about the water cooling parts.

Hi Woop,
I wouldn't even look at that monitor to be honest with you. It looks very nice, but has loads of bad reports of severe ghosting in games and crap colour res.
The problem is to do with the response time being acclerated, and not a true response time (hense the 2ms) ...

Have a llok at something like the Dell range or the Samsung SM-226BW 22" Widescreen...
