It would be handy if the experienced players could put a few ship setups here as a reference to help out us newbies. I know it's talked about in game but when it comes to kitting out it's been forgotten Embarassed Must be an age thing Laughing

The thing with ship setups is that it all depends on what skills you have and what you want to do with it.If you tell which ship you would like a setup for i will be happy to recommend one for you. Smile

Or you could state a good ship setup and then train skills towards it Wink
I have a drake but I am unsure of the best setup, weapons, shields etc. I was with snappy on a mission last night in my caracel carrying heavy missles. I could have thrown rocks at them for all the damage I was doing to their armour, but they were also barely scratching my ship so the battle took forever Laughing

Okay a good setup for a Drake(Well its what i use)

High slot : put as many Heavy missile launchers on as your skill allows and if you have any spare slots try and fit a Nos on

Mid slot: 3 Large shield extenders,2 Shiel hardeners,1 shield recharger or an Afterburner

Low slots: 3 Shield power relays,1 Ballistic control system or 2 SPR , 2 BCS

Really you want to get the T2 versions of these modules.

Shield hardeners offer diffrent protection against diffrent types of damage so you you need to change these depending on what rats you are going up against. If you have the skill you could put 2 t2 invulnerability Hardeners on as they give protection against all types of damage.
This is a list of damage types that rats do .
Guristas - Kinetic & Thermal
Serpentis - Kinetic & Thermal
Mordus - Kinetic & Thermal
Blood - EM & Thermal
Sansha - EM & Thermal
Angel - EM, Kinetic, Thermal & Explosive
Mercenary - EM, Kinetic, Thermal & Explosive
Rogue Drones - EM, Kinetic, Thermal & Explosive

As for doing damage you need to make sure you use the right missile for the job.
This is a list of the damage types that work best against diffrent rats.
Guristas - Kinetic
Serpents - Thermal
Mordus - Thermal & Kinetic
Blood - Thermal
Sansha - Thermal
Angel - Explosive
Mercenary - Thermal
Rogue Drones - EM

Hope this helps

Well I can give you setups for Gallente ships, but if none of you want to fly Gal ships then...

Let me know if anyone plans to move away from Caldari

I think in the long term I will try gallente ships but it's early days yet. It takes a long time to train the skills for caldari without sidetracking into other organizations. Do you think any one organizations ships have an advantage are are they all roughly equal?

Have used Evemon to set a skill plan to equip the drake to Crytors spec, I can do it in 10 days 21 hours 42 minutes and 53 seconds. Pretty precise then Laughing

Gallante ships FTW, they are probably now the best fighting ships in the game but you need proficient gunnary (namely hybrid blasters) and drone skills to use them well.

Caldari ships - missile boats and EW ships

Gallante ships - blaster boats and drone carriers

Mimitar ships - speed ships and good allround

Amarr - Good armor and cap

Gallante for killin, caladari for support and missions.

Ive had a look at the Myrmidon and could train up to fly it in 4 days. Have you a set up for that ship? I could put the equipment into Evemon and see a realistic time for training up to that standard

The Myrm is one of the best ships for pvp.It requires good gunnery skills so you will have to train those skills as well.
Not sure of a good setup for it but i think it would be Blasters,Drones and Armour.

I already have half decent gunnery skills, I trained them up early so it wouldnt take too long to get to max. When I've finished drake training and mining barge (about 2 weeks total) I will go for Myrmidon Cool

Hi chaos o/
My current myrmadon set up is as follows:

Hi slots - 6 x T2 light neutron blasters ( as u get no gunnery bonuses & they the same damge as medium electrons/ions

Midslots - T2 MWD , web, scrambler (20km), Sensor dampener (V important)
and a medium cap booster (best named u can afford) carrying 800charges

Lowslots - T2 medium repairer, T2 damage control unit, 3 x active armor hardeners of your choice.

Drone bay - 5 T2 heavy ogres (must be ogres if possible, better damage than the other races)

Rigs - ancillary current router (10% more grid), a repairer rig and armor hit pint rig

The myrmidon is a kick ass drone battle cruiser, cos u get insane bonuses to the drones.
Ive fitted this one with a heavy tank(18500 hitpoints) with good resists across the board and good dps 525 on quickfit.

The small guns are best as u get no medium gun bonuses so u may as well fit light T2 neuts as they do the same damage as medium electrons and ions and use half the fitting.

Damage control unit as all gallante ships have big structures, wack this on and u get 60% on all resists to hull about 6000 hit piont extra, could save ya life!!

Sensor dampener for stopping target gettin a lock on your drones, takes ages to lock a drone wiv that running..... cos if u lose your drones your screwed.

Cap booster for anti nosing protection.

If u cant use T2, best named is still good.
