If your after full on anime movies then you cant go wrong with something like Akira, great movie and without Akira there would never have been a Matrix. Other good anime films include Ghost in the Shell, Perfect Blue, Golgo 13, Ninja Scroll, Metropolis, Vampire hunter D, and well too many more to list.

If, however your after anime series then take a look at Ghost in the Shell: Stand alone complex. There are 2 seasons available at present, and its fantastic.

Hello Ghosty,

Afro Samurai is the coolest anime you can find right now.

http://www.afrosamurai.com/

Samuel L. Jackson voices the character of Afro Samurai who must avenge his fathers death by a nasty sort of chap named Justice this time voiced by Ron Perlman.

Along the way there are various enemies to despatch and a soundtrack by RZA of Wu Tang Clan.

Take a look at RZA's myspace.

http://www.myspace.com/rza

The official release date is May 22nd.

Here is a link to the web site of Production I.G - creators of anime in the Quentin Tarantino movie KIll Bill and also other shit.

http://www.productionig.com/

Furthermore you could do worse than take a look a supercool director Miyazakis' production companies web site.

http://www.onlineghibli.com/

Gorillaz and Tank Girl artist Jamie Hewlett? Here is his wiki entry

Cheers, Mr Slag.

Just like people say godfather and scarface are the best movies of all time, but they aren't!!!!! They were good movies for their time. Akira(like most movies) has a beginning, a middle, and an end. The movie producers of Akira decided to pull out the middle of the story and make it a movie.. The story would have been much better if they'd made more of them.
Ghost in the Shell had a good story also. The anime in both movies were OK at best. They did good on the city graphics which was done by computer anime anyway. As far as actual drawing and person anime, it was mediocre!! In my opinion a movie that gets the title of "best film of all time period" should be have an awesome story WITH excellent graphics!!
You, like some people probably saw one of these 2 movies as your first anime and it sticks out in your mind as the best due to the fact that they were the 1st and impacted you the most...

Wow someone has been watching toonami a lot..........

Steamboy is probably the only one you mentioned worth watching. COWBOY BEBOP OMG ARE YOU SERIOUS. That's almost as bad as Dragonball Z or Outlaw Star Very Happy Jin-Roh got turned off after the 1st episode and Gundam, well all you have to say is Gundam and people just laugh!!!!

Bleach is excellent (only in Japanese, dubbing is crap most of the time)
Hellsing is also pretty good. Except it's kind of repetitive.......
Also try Naruto

I like this keep throwing the suggestions out there, I can't wait to see what other anime's people post. Oh if you want to see some good anime that's on the older side. Try watching the ORIGINAL Bubblegum Crisis, you MIGHT like it!!!!!!!!

AND?!?!?!?!?!? Will Smith got nominated for an oscar, does that make him a good actor???

NO!!!!!!!!!!

Sessions are just like series!! It is all a continous plot that revolves around someone/someones. Whether they begin and end each session or let it go on episode after episode. It is all the same thing........
