I guess it depends what graphic you are looking at ingame as if I look at a wall I can get about 150fps but if I look across a built up landscape its around 80 to 100 etc
Cheers

i'm gonna pick your brains again! . can you explain more how to get frame rates, sorry for being stupid! . is console in the game or before you start game???? not up on these things, but learning, slowly. i have my graphics settings on about the lowest ones as i thought this might be contributing to lag,but from what you guys have told me i now suspect it to be more down to ram and cpu. if my frame rates are ok then i could up graphics settings a little. i have amd3000+ cpu,1 gig ram,x1650 pro agp graphics card. thanks for help, again. |

Whilst in game press the tilde key (`¬) , this brings a white box across the top half of the screen with all the game messages in it, type the renderer command from T-bone's post on a fresh line then hit enter.
Also Team Speak Overlay shows your fps and if you have / use Fraps , it shows your fps too!
Hope This Helps1
Thanx Gaz! |

Thats probably due to the Gfx card and only 1Gb of ram, although a faster processor would obviously help...
Have you got an Audio Card ?
What size Monitor / Resolution are you using?
Having a dedicated Audio Card will help you as it processes all the Audio onboard, freeing - up Cpu usage !!!
Have you tried the tweaks i posted before?
Try Downloading CCleaner, it's free and is an excellent program for cleaning out all the crap from your Hdd's.
http://www.ccleaner.com/
You should also keep your Hdd defragmented as much as possible for better performance. Use a third party application rather than Windows.. PerfectDisc is very good and free !!
And make sure that all unnecessary programs running in the background and disabled...
Also make sure you have the latest ATI Drivers. Personally i never used the Ati Drivers, but third party drivers as they perform alot better. Here's a list of the best third party drivers out there. I prefer Omega Drivers best for ati as they are more stable and add a performance boost !!!
ATI Catalyst -- www.ati.com
Omega drivers -- www.omegadrivers.net
DNA Drivers -- www.dna-drivers.nl
NGO Drivers -- www.ngohq.com
Zeropoint Drivers -- www.dhzeropoint.net
Forsage Drivers -- www.hardwarelab.ru
UnIAN Drivers -- www.atimania.com/unian
**News update ** New Catalyst 7.6 Drivers are out ..

hi mate. I spent some time doing the things you suggested in the other forum i posted. downloaded the de-frag program you recommended, took your advice, visited blackviper site and followed his guide too. did the trend micro housecall scan too which found about 6 items.
monitor is a 19 inch crt,in bf2 i play on the lowest res which is about 800x640 or similar, no aa. will try those drivers cos remember that when i 1st installed card i had problems. in the catalyst centre it would only show my card as agp0x instead of 8x!!!! tried everything i could think of but no joy. in end i uninstalled ctalyst and just used basic driver. thanks for the help mate, much appreciated. |

to be honest,i think this low average fps is mainly down to the lag i get with my system. every so often the game'll come to a complete stop for a couple of seconds,so i think during this time the fps rate is zero. i watched the current fps a few times and that wasn't too bad, ranging mostly around the mid 20's to low 40's. need more ram. |

Thank you T-Bone for the help, tips advice links etc. I have done a few things on that list but still suffering from lag but I'm always going to with a 6600le, 1 gig, 3.3 processor. Hopefully not to far away with money for upgrading. Reckon I could get an extra gig and new card for £150? If so which? x1950 £100 ish? |

Hey 1927 has your system got an AGP or PCI-E slot for the graphics?
If it's PCI-E go for this - http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=119441&_LOC=UK it's a seriously quick card for a £100, if it's AGP slot go for http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119300
Memory is pretty cheap now - DDR http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/61699 or DDR2 http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/114729
BF2 and BF2142 are usually GPU dependent rather than CPU, your 3.3GHz will do you fine.
I got the X1950XT and run all maxxed out at 1680 x 1050
And it's official - http://www.custompc.co.uk/custompc/labs/107439/connect3d-radeon-x1950xt.html |
