I know what you mean, i was just a little inpatient and got my FX60 the day it came out practically! LOL! But i think that it will still keep up if i had a next gen GPU. Besides i can play everything on full and the system runs like a dream.
Thats exactly what i was thinking mate, when the system starts to lag im gunna look into water cooling to make it keep up, but i reck since dual core is not even supported yet it should have some shelf life until programs start fully supporting multi core systems and 64bit!
Im started to get a little freaked out that we have the same sound set up, is that 7.1??? Coz thats how i have it! LOL!
Deffo post some pics when you start your new setup!

yeah it is 7.1 sound! that is a bit freaky!
the fx60 does still have some life left in it, at the moment I don't want to shell out for another MB cpu and ram! at the moment I am more than happy and only one game struggles on full settings, flight sim X, which is pretty boring, needs TV missiles to liven things up! apart from that it flys and will do for a while yet, waiting for 8900gxt to come out!!
watercooling is the way to go! |

LOL cyrus! Yeah the 8900gtx ftw! LOL! The FX60 setup will not be that much slower than a core 2 duo, just less efficient i think!

w00t! 10,147 3d marks.
And thats with an E6600 (at 3.2GHz) and 8800GTS (S not X!) at 660MHz. Thanks to Thermalright CPU / Video and Northbridge coolers!

If you could see the temperatures on that scaled-down image, you'd see CPU temp is 30deg, GPU is 50deg, right after running the benchmark. Not bad not bad! |

Someone had to resurrect this post didn't they - Well just looked and my comp is on it's 1st birthday tomorrow.
I was well chuffed when i first got it - now it seems dated - DX10 is nearly in full fledge and my comp is probably becoming one of the poorest in the clan.
but i'm not upgrading - keeping up with PC parts is impossible and mine still does everything i want - only needs soon will be dx10 gfx card and new mobo, but not for another 6months or so.
Happy 1st birthday to my comp |

7810 with an E6320, 8800GTX, 2GB generic RAM and Windows 'Slowmo' Vista ... can't submit the result as the futuremark ORB is down, will post a screenshot ASAP.
Update - here's proof -
Almost finished a self-build 'uber-machine' which I'll benchmark and beat until I get 10,500

My old system achieving a score too embarrasing to mention...ok...cough 1,733 (ahem)..ok ok, it is three years old ... the time was right for an upgrade.... got my new PC yesterday and clocked a score of 11,038..so still got some catching up to do with geordie's rig ,but I'll be dying in BF2 even faster and in higher res than ever b4, so I'm well chuffed..
My rig:
NZXT Lexa case
Antec True Power Trio 650W
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
Thermaltake Golden Orb Cooler
2x BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB PCI Express
2GB Corsair DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX
Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus Socket 775 m/b
320GB Caviar SE16 SATA 300 HD
