OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer.
Basically you're getting just the main piece of hardware/software without all the extra fancy bits, retail boxing, advertising etc. Its alot cheaper to buy computer parts OEM, Operating Systems and Processors especially.

Only problem with OEM, is that you generaly only get limited warranty and normally no support.... but it's normally better value for ppl who replace/upgrade frequently... |
