Vista sound issue

Hi guys, been a while, but im back now using vista...........

Im having sound problems playing BF2 and 2142...... they will only run in stereo sound.

I have 5.1 set up and have tested the speakers in configure options all ok.

Has any1 else had this problem with vista??

Hi doombot,
yeah I have same issue, in windows sound test it plays the sound out every speaker and the base box, but in every game Ive tried and with music aswell it only plays the front speakers and sometimes the base tube !
As of yet I havent come across a fix for it !

When running your games are you running all of them as adminstrator ? right click .exe then properties then compatabillity tab click the box run as adminastrator etc etc.
Also do the same for Teamspeak.

The only gripe i got with Vista and its sound is that the Vista drivers for my Creative Fatal1ty soundcard are shite and Creative havent even bothered their asses the past 5 months to release a new driver.

Wish they'd get their fingers outta their asses and do something!

Ive just been doin some searching about this and its quite a big issue with vista!
Somthing to do with the direct 3D and Open AL ...
But anywayz I came across this program someone recomended to get sound working on all speakershttp://www.download.com/SRS-Audio-Sandbox/3000-2169_4-10659449.html
I tried it and it has worked with music and movies but I havent tried games yet!
Only downfall is its only free 2 week trile then you gotta pay to keep it!!

Yeah seems a bit of a joke considering vista been out a while now, and no ones released a fix for it......

But anyway seems to be a common problem, but tried the usual driver update and running the programs in admin, but no luck....

i'll prob give that software ago that scunny found if i cant get it sorted in a couple of days ....
