lol, the 8800gt costs half as much as an 8800gtx, but beats it in some tests! .... really good bargain. Apparently 8800GT SLI is STILL cheaper than an 8800GTX, and you get around 18000 3D marks for it. WOW.
Im also having trouble running stuff like Crysis on my rig, even though I have brand new top of the line stuff :S Personally im gonna wait until the next gen cards come out!Even with SLI GT's or GTX's, you can only get 30FPS when all effects are high. woot ... |

Defo agree with the 8800GT and i think a thermaltake PSU should do the trick.
Woop - The reason for the low fps in Crysis is due to crytek havent optimized the game for SLI,apprently this will come with a future patch....so they say!!!! |

Thats the same PSU i'm looking at myself. As to how good it is i dont know but it seemed to be a decent price for a 750w and i've always found TT to be a pretty good brand for psu's.
As for the gfx, the GT seems be gettibg excellent reviews and is rated close to the GTX in perfornace at a far lower price. Looks good to me but i'm not an expert. |

The only thing to be wary of with PSU's is to make sure you get a new one with the dual 12v rail for PCIe2.0 - its worth remembering as a lot of old stock is not compatible with it and you could be left with a shocking pile of shite - modular cables or no! I think its only in the last 6 months that all PSU's are compliant with this so for future upgradability just check!
Oh and the new gigabyte PSU apparently has software control on it - but they are a newer manufacturer for PSU's so best left onthe shelf! |
