What is my ping and is there a cure

Well geordie said my ping was very high when i went on COD4 ??? Embarassed

trouble is I havent got a clue what that is Sad

or what I can do o lower it ??what is a good number

any help would be great Very Happy

Ping measures connection speed and primarily will depend on the package you have from your ISP

Press TAB in game to show the scores and the last number on the right is your Ping

around 50 in COD 4 seems to be ok - basically the lower the better

the trick is to disable anything that is trying to access the internet at the same time - MSN type progs are the real bitch and they dont always close when you think they have so have a look around at those

well 50 is a lil too low. as the official non uk minority in |2es i can tell you that i play with 90-150 with no problems. and so does cyrus who had to do the wierdest move ever and move to canada.

oh and if you are using cable your ping REALLY depends not only on you, but also on your neighbouring cable users, so shoot them lol.

Yeah, 50 - 80 ping is generally good if you're based in the UK some people even get lower. Our server is based in London so depending on your distance from it will determine your ping. If your ping goes crazy all the time it can be caused either by people in your neighbourhood using your bandwidth, anti virus programs or any programs downloading updates, spyware, or stuff like msn, yahoo etc.

i usually get a stable 200 ping being here in Canada sometimes 150 if i'm lucky but anything under 100 and you are usually fine Smile

If your ping goes up and down alot from like 50 to 200 and your game stutters, it can also be graphical lag caused by ur graphics card. Also download a spyware remover like Ad-Aware and do a scan, and do a virus scan to see if that helps.

it says mine is 135 but on the joinserver page were you click on the server it says 66 thats with everything turned of including explorer and messenger

on the speedtest, what speed does it say you have?

it says 3780kbps download and 318 kbps upload ping 138 distance 50 miles

if your server ping is 60 you are aight.

I'm with virgin and have been getting 40-60 ping, about 1,000,000 pong though.
