been having a problem with my system booting up. when i switch it on the lights'll come on and the cpu fan spins up, but then it'll stop, after a few secs it'll start again, then it'll either do the same again or just do nothing with fans spinning and lights on. it doesn't reach post or display anything on screen. i've done a bit of looking into this on google and found quite a few posts on this problem with the same m/b i have which is GA-P35-DS3R
from what i can gather it seems to be a common fault with this board. have e-mailed scan who i bought it off and posted question on their knowledge base. was just wondering if any of you have had same problem. don't want to take my new system appart again if i can help it so wanna be sure this is the prob. have updated all drivers and bios. thanks people |

I've had that problem twice, once it was the mobo, the other time is was the cpu. |

Have you downloaded all the latest motherboard drivers for your board ?
generally these can be downloaded from the motherboard manufacturers site.
Most drivers on the cd are out of date.
may help ? worth a shot ?
Cheers

mmm I have a P35C-DSR3, but touch wood have not encountered any problems.
As you have updated all your drivers and the bios (did this fault occur after you flashed the bios btw?) it must be hardware related, I can only suggest checking all connections and the key elements to your system. ie PSU, CPU, RAM and MB. |

Had a similar problem in the past and it turned out to be the floppy drive so if you have 1 try disconnecting it from the motherboard

Hi Rogue,
Has this always happened everytime since you flashed your bios (and/or before flashing bios) , or does it boot up randomly?
my guess would be some of the settings in your bios not been set correctly, Have you touched or changed any of them?
First thing to try would be resetting your CMOS if it still doesnt boot after that then I would go into the bios settings and check all settings such as ram timings ,all voltages, cpu clocks, ect and make sure everything is set to the manufacturers defaults as per there instruction manuels!
Hope this helps
Thanx Gaz! |

Hi roguesamuri007,
Have you tried hot wiring the board outside of the case? as this issue can be caused by a short being created by either a wrong placed motherboard mount or some other type of short between case and motherboard.
Basically just wire the board up out of the case and see if the same error occurs would be my advice. |

i can suggest that you: Check that the ALL mounting holes on mobo are attached to case properly. All connections to mobo and other hardware parts are in correct place. Have your PSU checked at a hardware store to see if its working properly. Check that your BIOS is setup correctly (see manual for instructions).
Other than that- take it to a computer shop and have the techy have a look at it. |

i'll try some of those out lads. it did it before i updated bios, which i did using @bios program which came with board. only settings i changed were cpu frequency (266mhz)and a few other minor things. recently set ram volts as it was on auto so thought maybe that was cause as it might not be giving correct volts which is 2.2v as opposed to 1.8v standard. but made no diff. its completely random, could take 5 attempts or could take 15. i've read a few things on net about people having exact same problem, and it was down to mobo. someone said in a forum that it is a common fault with this board, something to do with a short on the cpu part of board. when its running its fine. wanted to check ram timings but don't know how, its not listed in any bios settings. nor was ram voltage, had to look it up on net. |
