HELP!!!
I've flashed my BIOS the old fashioned way (i.e.) RAMDRIVE from a windows 98 boot disk, and now Vista only sees that i have 3071MB out of the 4096MB that is installed.
The BIOS says that its knows that there 4096MB available there but it says that it can only access 3072MB.
Is the board faulty? is the BIOS file faulty? whats gone wrong? |

i was thinking that it had something to do with the page file but i doubt it.
Are you running 32bit vista or 64bit vista? |

Hubs said what Vista do you run, 32 or 64? He said Vista 32bit only supports 3gb, the 64bit supports 8gb+

Im running 64bit Vista.
Managed to fix it. Did a BIOS recovery technique, im on the BIOS version i was on before rather than the lastest one, but the machine works and im going to look at other opitions to solve a problem that im having with my system, both ATI and MSI technical support have been f*ck all help.
The problem im having is everytime i connect a USB Mass Storage Device to my computer, it neither hangs/freezes completely or it comes up with 'atikmdag' error aswell as the fact that my chipset drivers arent installing correctly- Im using AMD 580X/SB600 chipsets and everytime i install the chipset drivers from CCC it says it installs but when I come back to it, it says it still need to be installed.
I can only think that its either 1) faulty component on motherboard or 2) need to reinstall Vista without being connected to internet to stop Vista from downloading 'default drivers' for my components. |

The best thing to do would be to re-install and get the updates manually, if that doesn't work it's probably a fault with your motherboard like you said. They are a pita aint they!

Make sure you load default settings in the bios b4 you flash, and its also worth flashing with 2gig of ram 1st....then load defaults after flashing...shut your system down and then add the second 2 sticks of ram. |
