IMPORTANT: |2es BF2 Infantry Only night confirmed!!!

Hey everybody,

Im sure as y'all know, ive been giving you my 'opinion' on tanks, APCs and jet recently.
So rather than complaining all the time and giving y'all a headache, i've decided to get off my ass and actually do something.
Spoken to the chief, mrix, on TS. To my delight, and im sure the delight of others aswell, the main man has welcomed with open arms a BF2 INF only night on our |2es server.

We've settled on the idea that INF night begins on Thrusday starting at 7.00pm.
Now this is great in my opinion, im sure they'll be a few who'd disagree, but this cannot happen unless ALL admins, especially those with BF2 admin rights, are informed about it and make the relevant changes, unless they have been made mrix before hand. Support from everyone that can is what im hoping.

A point made in conversation was the need to advertise this change A.S.A.P on both the server message (the load up screen) and server in-game messages. I cant stress how important advertising for this small change is, we really need those regulars who enjoy playing vehicles to come back the next day, and yes- the vehicles are the staple of our server.

If you've got any objections, please speak to mrix as soon as possible, but save your nasty comments or opinions, for me- and me alone!!! I was the one who spoke to mrix so you come to ME to vent your frustration, NOT mrix!

I would like to point out to everyone, doesnt matter what game you play- those who'd feel they could support their server/s better by being an admin can ask mrix personally to become an one- the option has always been there and will always be there. All that is asked, is that you follow the conduct of being an admin correctly, and that you do not abuse your admin rights!

Im really looking forward to hearing all your opinions on this- good or bad Very Happy

I hope we can get this off the ground before the deadline of next week Thrusday.
Im especially looking forward to seeing if some of the COD4 guys can kick it INF style with the BF2'ers Wink

but most of all, i wanna enjoy a good INF scrap this coming Thrusday, its giving me something to work till then and someting to look forward to Smile

Well done wicker for the persistence with this one.

Personally I look forward to it, cos I have started to prefer playing infantry maps like Karkie. Razz

Just getting a little bit fed up of being beasted by a helicopter or bomb every2 minutes on certain maps. Embarassed

I will make every effort to get on Thursdays and give you the support to get it going.

Just need a few lessons of Wenchy for places to hide when sniping Laughing

Alot of this praise needs to go to mrix too- mrix has been brilliant about this and i cant thank him enough, top dog chief Wink

Next on the agenda- maps!

We need to decide what where actually going to play: here's kinda what im sitting on for the maps but id like folk to put there input in too, if we can get the final layout made A.S.A.P the easier the task'll be for the admins to set them up for the night.

First off, Infantry standard maps-
1) Karkand - 32/64 map
2) Sharqi - 32/64map
3) Jalalabad - 16/32 map

Now i aint too sure about what exact map size we should have for the three there. Im not sure if you can run a 64 map and have a 32 player limit playing it. ADMINS- i've seen it done on other servers, but is it possible on ours?

the other two id like to see are:
Songhua - 16 map
Kubra - 16 map

The reason ive choose these two maps is because they're of the most unusual design yet being tatical and logical in your approach during play is key to winning on them, i.e promotes team play.

Guys, what do you think? Im looking forward to hearing your ideas on this Smile

P.S. The quicker we come to a mutual agreement about the maps, the less will have to worry about getting it ready for this coming Thrusday.

Karkand
Sharqi

Dragon Valley

I'm not sure about Songhua myself but I haven't played it much, I would probably like it more when I get to know the map a bit better. I'm happy with whatever map rotation is picked tbh. With matches in mind, it would be good to get to know the less commonly used maps just incase they get picked one day.

Id like to start with 32 man maps as I dont think we will pull enough punters in for 64.

1. Karkand
2. Sharqui
3. Karkand
4. Jalalalalalalbad
5. Mashtuur

I don't see us pulling people in with Oman, Kubra and other maps as inf only maps, I think we should go with purley city maps. I think the list above is probably the most successful inf maps and once people know that "Thurs night are inf nights" then maybe stick an open map in rather than purley city maps.

I see that whenever Kark is on we seem to gain in players it's also the map I propose as a home map when I have applied for matches on clanbase, again this should help us as a clan in matches if we keep gainging experience on Karkand. Again if the server is struggling on a Thurs night while this trial period is running (is it a trial?) having an extra Karkand might help us gain numbers.

What will be the server rules?

No Arty, No vehicle drops (Commanders)
No vehicles on the maps
FF on
Clays and c4 on

Any others to add?

hurray!!! i'm really pleased with this. the biggest pain in my life (other than piles) is bloody tanks and apc's! i hate em. can't beat a good old infantry battle. although i do try and practice in the choppers sometimes so this setup sounds great.
as for maps, i think all the city maps inc mushtuuuuuuuuuuuuuuur and maybe an unusuall one like wicker suggested, see how it goes.
i often have a chat with le breton and a couple of the other regulars on a night when it goes quiet. so i'll let them know and get their thoughts.

My only thought now is that its only 1 night a week for you guys which love this mode which seems a bit of a large gap in my mind Confused

I can not see a problem at all making it 2 nights a weeks spaced Question
