Hi Nymph,
Try setting dynamic light back to low, or is it dynamic shadows? well one of the two anyway!
I know it works for when its all dark inside buildings, so might be worth a shot here!

SO Thats how you manage to hit everyone with that damn AT launcher!
Your graphics are set to Low so everything/everyone sticks out like a sore thumb.
Anyway, moving onto the problem-
When you changed your graphics from Low to Medium or High, when you loaded up the map, did the shaders optimize?
Also, be sure to update your DirectX too. After an install of XP, even Vista, you need to re-install DirectX. It contains alot of the d3dx9.dll's, and additional d3dx10.dll's for Vista, that alot of games require to run properly. Back when BF2142 Demo came out, it wouldnt run on peoples computers because there DirectX wasnt up to stratch/didnt have the required d3dx9.dll... idiots
You'll find what d3d's you have by going into C: Drive, WIndows, System32 folder.
Here's a link to the official DirectX download from microsoft website:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1a2393c0-1b2f-428e-bd79-02df977d17b8&DisplayLang=en
Once you've installed DirectX, set the shaders back to Low, let the shaders optimize (to be technical there actually pre-caching) and once they done that- set the shaders to either Medium or High, to be honest- your Nvidia 8600 and 2GB RAM should have enough juice in it too run BF2 at medium no problem.
Give that a try and let us know if it works nymph |
