| Webzen has worked to flesh out the MMO world of Huxley -- including character development, building cities, player vs. player (PvP) battles, player vs. enemy (PvE) battles and quests. |
This is a game i have kept half an eye on for a loooooong time. Had kinda forgot about it for a while. Could be good, could be crap. If they make it too UT deathmatchy it will be crap (IMO) , my hiope is that they leave room for tactical play etc. |

Yes I have too been keeping an eye on Huxley
I dont think it would interest me at all if it was a pure Unreal Tournament style game but as MMOFPS its something fairly new what we havnt really seen before on this level.
thanks for the New update
cheers

Still subbed (since July 2003! yoiks!) but the 4 solid years of playing it took their toll, the result me being in conversation with you reprobates
I take it that most here have tried Planetside, for mass team based FPS action it has no equal.
It might be dated and SOE might be a bunch of fookwits but in it's heyday PS was awesome - 300+ player team based tactical action fighting over continents (not maps), still quite a few peeps playing it. |

Huxley looks way to UT for me i never been into UT thats why i here with you guys instead of with RL mates who all love UT games.
As for planetside i played i recently just cause i had never played it before and was surprised to se a fair few meet up for a big battle and was blown away at the scale of it. I can imagine back in the days when it was full it being awesome.
All in another planetside or updated version of it i believe should be on dev's books as it could be a real money spinner with all the repeated mmo garbage being released at the moment. |

Spot on Omi, in its present state, PS gets one continent with a massive 3 way gang bang going on which is kinda cool. Back inthe day though we used to have 2 or 3 continents with massive fights at the same time.
Made it a much more strategic game where outfits like 'Fight Club' and 'The Halibuts' (amongst others - they re just the two i have experience of) could make a massive difference by striking the right place at the right time even against overwhelming numbers of enemy troops.
When i last played sadly this was missing as the reduced numbers meant everyone piled into one continent for a mass brawl pretty much every night.
Still hoping and playing for a game to pick up the challenge and do what for the MMOFPS what PS could and should have been. |

Aye, I miss Planetside in it's prime, the days of mass armoured columns and multiple gal drops are gone but it is still the best and only "massive" online FPS out there.
Nowhere else in gaming land can you have a 390 (130v130v130) man FPS battle going on with tanks, aircraft, quad bikes, buggies, battle frame robots, max suits, infantry, stealth units and deployable combat engineering (mines, HE's, spitfire turrets etc etc etc)
Tis a shame SOE never really gave it the advertising and support it deserved/deserves.
A Planetside 2 has been begged for since time began but I'm not holding my breath. I really can't believe that no one else has made another MMOFPS.

Personally I have been very disappointed with how the progress of this game has been shared with the online gaming community (hell any game that has the words vapourware associated with it is doing itself NO favours)
I mean a couple of movies and a handful of screenies along with a mysterious release date (on webzens site reported to be within 2007 lol! and currently rumoured to be " March of 08" oh dear.....)
Now I've actually looked at this article (and not used this thread to spam about Planetside )
it actually looks quite nice. Although it looks like deathmatch quake/UT in the shooty department ;/ - lets not hope it's not all spray and pray bunny hopping shiteness.
As for release, it looks like we'll be lucky to see this in 2008, my money is on 2009...... |
