Any of you playing this on Vista? is it playable.
I've got Vista and an 8600Nvidia card, so I'm troubled by both problems talked about...

Still a lot of bad user comments on teh web, I hope they sort it out otherwise I think FFoW will sadly disappear into the interweb obscurity of could have beens......
To be fair a lot of peeps are saying it is fun etc but a lot of these guys also state it is flawed.
It's a shame that they were obviously forced to rush the release before the game was finished properly.
Now convince me to buy it anyway

Nope
I am enjoying it - if the flaws overtake playability - a bit like it did on BF2142 then fine - I think however that this game is going in a slightly different direction the reason being the team behind it are deeply rooted in MODs and that sort of culture - so therefore I am hoping that we will see frequent updates etc appearing - the proof will be in the pudding until then I will continue with my Tamiya fan boyism. |

Here is a review for the game from trustedreview.com
http://www.trustedreviews.com/gaming/review/2008/03/02/Frontlines-Fuel-of-War/p1
Echoes my sentiments but I think it is much better than BF2 than he suggests and the spawn killing is not as bad as he makes out - you spawn on the frontline you expect crap to happen you spawn further back yer ok.
I am really surprised that no one from our BF2 community is discussing this! |

Cheers Starsky.
From trustedreview

One final point: the PC version is not the most stable of beasts at the moment, despite a worryingly hasty patch on day one of release. Vista users, those with onboard sound and those with Geforce graphics cards seem to be suffering particularly badly - and as I tick all of the above boxes I had a hellish time getting the game up and running. You might want to bear this in mind and wait for more patches to roll out before making your purchase.
Verdict-
A worthy opponent to the established Battlefield series augmented by a decent single-player campaign. Frontlines is neither different enough nor exciting enough to make it essential, but if you're a fan of this genre you'll definitely enjoy it. |
Gamespy reviewed the patched version and had this to say
| Quote: |
| The premature PC launch has been a technical headache and major disappointment for a large number of users. Our inability to get the game to run on Vista is especially disheartening. Considering how excited we were to play what should have been the next Battlefield-style experience, we can't help but call this a missed opportunity. If you can get it to run, there's a lot to like in Frontlines: Fuel of War, and it could provide for many late nights of multiplayer excitement. But for now, your best bet is to wait until the dust clears and hope for something, soon, that resembles a finished product. |
So I guess I'll be waiting for another patch or two before I get tempted |
