Hi all, I downloaded my Call of Duty 4 from Steam and the first time around it went fine Unfortunately the second time around wasnt as smooth as I got to 100% in Steam which said it was ready to play, so I clicked on the launch game button and it decided to say it was needing to update again, and unfortunately thats where it stuck .
Took me a week of leaving posts on the steam forums and to get reply`s with varius fix`s that I tried and didnt work.
Anyway today I finally fixed it myself and if anyone else trying to fix the same problem and find this page please read below...
Basically where it shows your installed game in the Steam mygames section,
right click the game this one being call of duty 4, scroll down the sub menu and click properties, then from the box that pops up click on Updates tab and click the dropdown menu so its set for not updating automatically.
Then go back to your Launching your game and it will start up
dont ask me why this happens but it does
This will probably work with other games that get stuck like this also i guess.
Cheers

try verifying the files in the properties, or changing the language to say french, then wait to see if it willt ry updating, then switch back to english, it may have to download more files, we had a similar problem with frontlines |

I tried downloading Steam again last week, which wasnt worth my time:
Slow speeds for downloading games and updates, just initialising the games for downloading took f*ckin ages and you have to log in just to play a game- what happens if your internet connection is down, EXACTLY!
Personally, the Black Box voucher with my ATI HD2900XT was nice, shame i wont be downloading Steam again to play it, as Steam SUCKS!
Okay Rant over |
