Wow is very user freindly can be played casually and you can still have good results works on any pc even ons that run on steam power and still looks good, is completly seemless has a very perfected combat system. lets face it if wow was bad none would be playing it 3 years on time means nothing as after the first boom on release games are not herd of again and everyone moves on.

wow however has stood the test of time and with the new expantion comming shortly with tons new content a huge new area of pvp including siege warfare, and fully destructable buildings and pvp zones yea i see another 2 years if not 3 easy. Then blizzard can have there new mmo waiting for all those 10 million players to move on to.

Didn't stand the test of time for me, I lasted around 3 months into release as it bored me to bits in the end. I enjoyed my little revisit/foray into it before the release of AoC, but for me AoC bugs and all is a far more pleasurable experience, not once did I want to return to WoW but then again I'm not an addict Wink

tbh AoC/WoW/EQII/CoH/etc are all the same thing at base when you peel the skin back, whether I feel the same about AoC in another month or so only time can tell, even I admit AoC has some of that grinding shite I hate but with this kind of game I think it is unavoidable.

Bottom line I suppose is whatever floats your boat....unless that boat is sinking!

Brune if you would have stuck around to atleast 60 did some high dungeons or even 70 and did some end game dungeons and pvp you would of loved it mate Razz
Just happened to be that AoC came out and snatched you from us! Which is understandable because you are an AoC lover Smile
Shame i didn't coax you into playing WoW a little sooner!

All being said, aslong as AoC continues to update and fix the bugs and stuff that's missing from the game, it should continue to improve and gain more and more subscribers.
It's gonna be interesting to see what happens to the AoC population when WaR and WoTLK are released later in the year.

I found end game WoW to be dull compared to getting there, rerunning the same old stuff time after time to get epics for no other reason than to be able to rerun a different place time after time after different epics.. then they killed world pvp and made pvp about grinding for epics too...

I didn't realise you had a lvl 70 WoW char Kop Smile

In regards to mrix's post about taking years to build up the subscribers, aslong as AoC continues to grow and add more they will get more subscribers, if they don't keep adding content and fixes they will lose people and AoC will eventually end up stale and slowly dying with most of the now small population mmo's.

Ps. i'm still waiting for a trial key! i nearly bought the american version of AoC the other day but realised that i wouldn't be able to play with you guys on a euro server, then again, if fury is full i wouldn't be able to anyway :S

Fair point, I did play up to 60 with a dash of Onixia/Molten Core which at the time was end game. The central ethos of WoW was always gear and level. I still speak with guys that are still playing including raiding whatever the funny named new high end bosses are and regular battlegrounds and nothing they have said makes me think any different.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not 'really' trying to say WoW is crap, though I guess it may sound like that, its numbers alone say otherwise. It is though crap for "me" if you see what I am saying. One of the main things I like about AoC, you can be a well equipped high level and have a couple of lower level guys come along and hand you your ass on a plate. I like to feel that when I get murdered it's because I suck (true storey..), not was out geared/levelled by a face roller. It's still a major factor of course, but it is not the be all and end all. What made me quit WoW in the end was the battlegrounds as it totally took away world pvp and made a pvp server utterly pointless. It was grind battlegrounds or raid.

As for buddy keys I think they are sending them out in batches but I don't know if they have actually started yet? When you do get one it shouldn't be an issue to join us as they are expanding the server tomorrow (hopefully).

I know what you are saying Kop, i didn't really enjoy end game at 60 before burning crusade came out i also did molten core and some ZG, it was pretty annoying because only the top top guilds could go to Naxxramas.
Since getting to 70 i've enjoyed the game alot more, there are alot more dungeons, 1 more BG, and arenas.
PVP is alot more even nowadays, you probably played it when they had the stupid ranks and only the people that stayed on 24 hours a day would have the best pvp gear, oh god i am glad those days are long gone!
But yeah i see what you mean about AoC, will be interesting to see what happens as more content and gear is added later.

I'm playing WoW again at the moment and I forgot just how obnoxious the community of that game really is Rolling Eyes Typical scenario; a group invite pops up out of nowhere, I decline it, 5 seconds later it pops up again, I decline it again, it pops up again. This repeats pretty much until I either send the idiot a tell or just ignore it totally and run off. I find myself longing for AoC's open PvP so I can beat some manners into the little bastards.

Open world PvP is all about ganking. The Crossroads and Taren Mill get attacked regularly by level 70's who are bored and seemingly too scared to pick on players their own level so they go and harrass low levels instead. Blizzard really dropped the ball with the honour system when they had the perfect opportunity to implement a 'dishonour' system at the same time. Now we have a generation of MMO players who think it's ok to act like complete dickheads simply because they can do so with no consequences.

We are on Deathwing as Horde, just messing about really. I've gone with a Druid, Kraj with a Rogue. In theory that will be quite a nasty combination in world PvP. In practice though, so far we haven't even seen a single alliance guy in any of the contested zones that isn't at least 10 levels higher than we are. Chickenshit bastards Rolling Eyes

The biggest problem I have with MMO PvP is that skill plays a much lower part in victory than in an FPS. Yeah sure, if two equally geared players of the same class meet etc... but how often does that happen? Even then, class can make a big difference. I remember in AO for a long time Doctors were the kings of PvP, much to the dismay of Soldiers. At least there was no shortage of healers for PvE Laughing

The only MMO I've played where skill really is the prime factor is Planetside. Drop an experienced player in at level 1 and he will still kick the arse of a level 20 who has only been playing a short while. Planetside is however, very old now and starting to show it. I hope Huxely will be a success but the more I read about it, the more it looks to disappoint Confused There's a lot to be said for a game that can have 360+ players all fighting over the same base with tanks and planes. I like UT and CoD4 and Quake Wars but they do feel awfully small in comparison.

Oh well, no doubt one day someone will release an absolutely huuuuge WW2 online shooter where you can have whole divisions face off against each other... one day Wink
