Hi all, I received this post yesterday over at my Huxley site,
Yeah a lot of us were hoping for a release of Huxley late this year, but that doesn't look too promising. Some people are even doubting the NA beta late this year, but you gotta hope for something lol.
It's a bummer, but hopefully they'll use the time to fix some problems and respond well to their feedback.
About the beta.
A lot of the negative feedback is due to confusion and the fact that nobody can understand any of the korean in game. Also they can't play any PvP because their ping is too high (since the test is located in korea) and they just get blocked from the games.
They can however get into the PvE portion of the game (though only to a certain level since you need PvE and PvP to level past a certain point).
--Some bad things include a somewhat lack of customization when you're making your character (but this is beta so you can't expect them to have EVERYTHING ready).
--Also I've seen complaints about classes only being able to use class specific guns, and if you wanted to stray out of that (enforcer with a sniper rifle) you can only use the lowest grade of that gun. Now this also might be due to confusion and the game being in korean but it doesn't look promising.
--There are considerably less armor socket abilities (the things you add to your armor to give you special skills like double jump, heat vision etc.) than we expected. We expected hundreds of types of abilities and we also expected that all classes could use every ability. Now maybe since it's beta they only have some of the abilities for use but in the beta the abilities are class specific (enforcers get sprint, phantoms get cloak) and the higher level abilities only seem to be improvements of the previous abilities (longer lasting sprint, longer lasting cloak) not actual different abilties to further customize your playstyle.
--There are also a number of bugs (getting stuck in a box etc.) but that's expected in a beta.
---Almost all of these problems are kind of...hazy I guess. Since nobody really knows what's going on in the game, and it's kind of a pain to really experience the beta when the entire thinig is in a different language. All of the these problems might be explained if we could read korean.
----------Some positive stuff -----------
----Everyone who has played the PvE portion of the game has said it's lots of fun. The instances change depending on what mission you are on, so if you pick a certain mission, certain doors in the instance will open or close, new enemies will be added or maybe taken out.
----The cities look AMAZING. If you've seen any videos of the capital cities you kind of get the idea. But those in the beta say they're truely amazing and look beautiful. The instances look awesome too. And apparently the ingame music is cool too
----The interface works well, which may not seem that awesome, but it can really ruin a game.
----You can upgrade your guns a number of times (not sure how many, someone said they've done it 3 times and you can probably do it more) at an NPC vendor, all you have to do is give him some supplies and some money. However there is a chance that the upgrade will fail and then your gun will be completely broken forever (it turns into a level 1 gun and is basically worth nothing). So it's kind of risky lol.
----The game plays like a good FPS, so at the least we'll all get a good FPS out of it
SoooooooooooooOoOOOooOooOoo
We gotta keep in mind that this is a beta, and that it's all in korean. None of the players I've seen can get into PvP (which is a HUGE part of the game) due to their non-korean ping. And everything is confusing due to the entire game being in korean.
Still with all that, sure the game needs work, but it's still fun even without being able to understand most of it.
Hopefully they'll use the feedback they get, and hopefully a NA or EU beta will be out later this year so we can get a real beta test.
Well at least its still moving forward
cheers

Surprise surprise, not sure what to say other than that korean MMO's fail big time in the west ;/ Lets hope they don't make it too arcade/Mangastyle like. |

IGN seem to be showing Huxley as a March 27th 2009 release on Xbox.
Seems specific, and I would hope that the PC version would be around the same time
