Smile stay away from the 9800 pro I've just upgraded from that as it keep crashing the game. Go for a GFroce 6800gt you can get one on ebay for about £150 You must get a AGP card if that is what your current one is unless you have a dual board which have only come out in the last 6 months or so supporting both PCI express and AGP graphics cards.

The 6800 gt is very stable and I have not had any graphic card related crashes! If you can afford it buy some one gig sticks of ram, Upgrade to 2gb cost me about £150 quid this will improve the game also! ( but check what pin set it is before you buy it as a lot of places will not take back memory!

Good luck !

Thanks....One more question...How do I found out if I need to buy a larger power supply? I found a 6800 GT on Amazon that I am gonna buy, but I would like to know if I need a larger power supply also.

Smile Interesting on the 9800 pro Freaky are you using the PCI express version?

I have not added any extra cooling system for the 6800gt and it fine. However my case has 2 fans built in!

Good luck with the new card it will make a lot of differnce!

Thanks man! I ended up with a 6800GT 256MB AGP. (uggg I hate waiting for it to be shipped though). Now I just need to find a new power supply (mine is only 300watts). Smile

Just wanted to say thanks for the advice on the card. Got the 6800 GT yesterday and I am very happy with it. So far I cant only run it "somewhat" well at medium settings, but I think this is do to my power supply(only 300 watts). I am going to get a larger power supply tonight and hopefully then I will be able to max it out. Thanks again!

Very Happy Glad I could help. One thing I found with the installing a new graphics card, it helps if you uninstall BF2 and reload it with the new graphics card in. For some reason BF2 automatically updated to high setting in the game. I also updated the drivers from the Nvidia web site which also made a difference before doing this Very Happy

Good luck and hope to see you on the server!

I will have to give that a shot tonight. After installing the new power supply, I could pretty much max the settings out on singleplayer, but could not get passed medium on multiplayer???? It would become VERY choppy when another person would enter my screen. I see other people with similar machines (1GB ram, P4 3.0) running higher then medium with this card so I am pretty sure I should be able to as well.
