Hi guys,
Just wondered what in your eyes constitues baseraping......long story.....
OK I was a special ops (ie c4 etc) and wandered into the base to try and blow some assetts - this is allowed???
I got noticed by a chopper and jumped into a anti-air thingy and fired off a couple of shots - would this be classed as baseraping at this point?? I heard someone on teamspeak saying 'baseraper' but surely special ops is ok....
I then was noticed by a sniper but run off and blew up the UAV. I needed supplies for more C4 and then realised we had no commander. At this point I applied to be comm and supplied myself. I was still getting sniped at this point so I launched some artillery at him and caught a couple of others in the blast who were waiting for choppers. At that point I was kicked - so I take it that was classed as baseraping at that point. It was honestly an unintentional arty into the base to be honest, I was just trying to get the sniper off my back.
Thoughts? |

I feel going in to destroy assets is fine, killing a few whilst in the base is ok as long as you not just picking of spawners. In Out ASAP IMO stealing vehicles is fine to.
Artying in a fixed point is a no-no and to arty 1 person is a bit OTT. some maps its hard to not kinda base rap if the enemy only has a locked base left.
People who seem to be doing this should get a warning before being kicked. |

I go along with what papasmurf did apart from the artillery - I do not classify stealing vehicles, shooting down helicopters/planes or blowing up chasing vehicles as baseraping as long as it's part of your quick infiltrate, destroy assets and escape.
Stealing vehicles is legit as long as you're in their base to blow up assets, not just get in a nick stuff!
Bit of a grey area but obvious baserape will result in a kick/ban. |

I kicked you mate, attacking/entering a locked base is only permissable to destroy assets.
plainly you've got on job to do and thats destroying the assets, if you do anything else its base raping unless its critical to you completing your objective.
I have no time for people who dont listen, so I suggest you heed what I say and dont enter a locked base unless you've got C4.
(and certainly calling down a artillery stike is not acceptable, if the bans system worked you'd be looking at a different rap sheet altogether) |

Who made you GOD Java - "I have no time for people who dont listen, so I suggest you heed what I say" - I don't remember voting you as the all powerful rule maker in this clan m8
Stealing a vehicle as part of your escape is not baseraping, yes we all agree calling the arty strike was totally unacceptable, but if you have to take out a chopper to make good your exit then FAIR ENOUGH.
Or am in the minority here with that view |

I have to confess that I think it was me who shouted "Base raper" last night I get a little excited! It may have been me in the helicopter that you attemted to shoot down, at the time i justed wandered what the hell some one was doing in the stinger in a locked base! It doesn't really bother me if people wander into a locked base it is only when they keep coming back!
My base rape comment wasn't particularly serious it just seems to be a term that is thrown around quite alot within this clan and can be spat out with out any real thought!
Sorry about that! From your description I dont consider you a base raper at all.
In my eyes Base Rapers are people who keep coming back time after time after time!
Anyway Rape is such a harsh word, I prefer to use "Suprise Sex" |

Personally Im of the view that entering the base to blow commander assets is fine... if you are detected and attacked then you may defend yourself, you may NOT attack peeps who are not attacking you...
I dont think the stealing of vehicles is right, it denies an asset to the enemy and in my view that is not fair.
Also I have run into trouble with some Res members in the past where they have complained about my shooting them down over or on thier way to thier locked airfield. Also where is the line when involving stingers in locked bases?? they may kil youl while you are flying but can you engage them??
I think we need to clarify what exactly constitutes base raping to us, I'll get things rolling by posting my thoughts about a baseraping definition:
Baserapeing is the undiscriminate killing, camping and destruction of enemy soldiers and equipment within a locked base
A spec ops soldier can enter a locked base to destory commander assets, he may only engage enemy troops/vehicles if they engage him.
It is baserapeing when a fighter jet/bomber/or helo attack enemy soldiers/ground vehicles/or grounded air vehicles within a locked base
Note that I stated "grounded" air vehicles... until an air vehicle is down recieving repairs it is still an active participant in the battle and hence can be engaged. The engaging of an enemy engaging you rule still applies, hence if a stinger within the locked base is targeting you then you may attack him. Common sense needs to prevail here, a bomber should not use all 5 of its bombs just to kill a single stinger (the collateral damage would be baseraping)... I would say guns only is sensible.
It is baseraping if a vehicle enters or camps just outside of a locked base
The only exception to this is a vehicle used by a spec ops soldier to get to the base... But again lets be sensible, dont use armour to infiltrate a base...
It is most definately baseraping when arty is dropped on a locked base
This is the most heinous act of baseraping in my opinion, it should not be tolerated.
So what do you think?? is this a satisfactory set of rules?? if there is any definition you want to add or if you disagree then post away

Thats a solid set of rules maverick and by no means un fair
It would be great if these could be followed but things dont happen in black and white. For example, What if you are chasing an enamy chopper back to his base and you happen to take them out before they are able to land (I believe this is fair) and you are then engaged by a Stinger at the locked base so you take this out (again fair, you do want to survive!). While taking out the stinger you are then fired apon by an APC, would it be fair to take that out? etc..
With out setting up detailed rules on base raping i still think it is easy to tell from the real wank*rs who are point whoring and those trying to take commander assets/pursue choppers who my take a cheeky kill. I feel the latter should be tollerated and the point whores kicked.
Just to let you know i am strongly against base raping and would rather get into the thick of it out on the battle field . Its a long swim to the aircraft carryier for the sake of 2 points!! Wank*rs!!!! |

Munter - no you're not in the minority at all. I'm with you all the way in what you say.
"Stealing a vehicle as part of your escape is not baseraping, yes we all agree calling the arty strike was totally unacceptable, but if you have to take out a chopper to make good your exit then FAIR ENOUGH". Hear hear.
"Who made you GOD Java - "I have no time for people who dont listen, so I suggest you heed what I say" - I don't remember voting you as the all powerful rule maker in this clan m8". And neither did I !
Overall, common sense applies. The whole ethos of Spec Ops is to get into somewhere ASAP and undetected, do the job, and get out again undetected (if poss) equally ASAP. If you hang around and take a few points by unecessary fragging then you're out of order and should be kicked. |

you guys did.. I didn't join the clan as I am now, you try spending 1-2hrs /night identifying and dealing with base rapers and see how much "thx Munter" you get
anyway
we've all got clanforge, if you deem somone to be base raping then you've all got the power to deal with them.

Wise words mate, like you say common sense should prevail and Mavericks excellent guidelines should help. |

personally, i agree with Munter... it was the artillary that took it too far.
shooting the odd chap on your way to the assets is fine, shooting the odd chap lying under a tree is fine (tends to be the pansy commander), blowing up tanks etc... all good... stealing tanks etc... nothing more than heroics ... bring in the big guns on a locked base... tut tut.
IMHO I believe that base'suprise sex' is fine if they are stupid enough to have only one base left (except maps like dragon valley and wake) kinda like at the end of a round in day of defeat... you get the added enjoyment of killing a disabled enermy.
remember this is all my opinion, although my opinion is correct at all times...... |
