mIRC risk!

Not one to complain or swear in forums or chat..im a nice guy and polite...bit shy but whocares...Now mIRC...thought id help clan advertise....log in..EVENTUALLY...JAVA!!...lol...thats the only time i will laff from now on... Evil or Very Mad

...My p.c has neva gone down...always virus check...always delete history and temp files...always keep virus defs up 2 date ..always go over top on security etc blah blah blah!!!!....installed mIRC...couple of days of using mIRC then bang!! windows error...blue screen ...nice Evil or Very Mad

..i ring a friend....i call him god...cus any p.c thing he can fix...hes worked wid p.cs...he owns p.cs......im sure hes billl gates brother....and from my post and what GOD studied and found fault...ohhhh.....it was mIRC...and ive still not swore yet...
mIRC...is apparently from my godly friend is the most common killer of p.cs amongst uni students....8/10 is uni students running mIRC...now some of us cant afford 2 rebuild p.cs....and some dont know how to reinstall windows.... Evil or Very Mad

...some of us dont FUCKING appreciate programmes that can jeoperdise ppls comps...i wont type any more or i will get kicked from clan...can we issue warnings of set programmes in future for members...the idea is to attract members not the opposite and crash comps... Evil or Very Mad

...feckin mIRC is so easy to hack why involve the clan wid it....it fuckin sucks...and im still installing ...feckin 2:22... Mad

...and now THUNDER AND LIGHTNING.....is any 1 else gonna rain on my nite from hell...just like it 2 strike the feckin cable... Mad

ive lost so much ...makes u realise ....im on holiday now...ive just lost 20 hours of off peak work...GONE!!!! and ENGLAND lost....feck fuck and feckin fuckin fork!!!!!!!

True IRC is known for getting worms and stuff on your computer....

But you usualy have to do something :S

if i can add myself since i installed mIRC agian, and joined that channel a few times (Res channel only thing i use IRC for)

my Comp feezes alot more o.O
not saying its mirc but its wierd....

Anyways ice sorry to hear it but, whats with the wierd typing o.o my brain got killed reading that

lol iceman.. pretty crappy day by the sounds of it
mIRC doesn't kill your pc, its a perfectly ok app to use especially if you say you run firewall/virus checkers. Theres most likely something else in your pc that was volatile and mIRC or something did something to cause it to have a hissy fit lol..

btw how does it take 22hrs to re-install windows? usually takes me about 2hrs in total to format install and update back to where I was. In saying that I tend to re-install windows every month with sunday in it... Razz

mIRC does screw around with peoples comp and you aren't 1 of those people
i deinstalled mIRC already cause since i installed it i got wierd computer freezez and wierd lag ingame

well I dont use a local client purely for the fact that it'd be closed when pc/net connex restarts

instead I have a shell which is extremely stable and I can log into it anywhere that has a internet connection nomatter the actual location I am in.

btw mIRC is shit, but its a easy to setup client that alot of low-tech users prefer
xChat is the alternate I would suggest if you have problems with mIRC

lol, Im really sorry to hear you had such trouble with it ICEMAN :S But, to be honest mate, I've used it for years, never had so much as a glitch. Im sure irc programs are a malware magnet, but so is your computer mate. Just sitting on the internet makes you a target.

The best form of security protection is to have 2 partitions (C and D drive) and use a program called Norton Ghost. What it does is, after installing all your programs, makes a complete backup (image) of your C drive and puts it on D. When your computer f0rks up, you can re-image C from the D file at any time. And, it takes 5 minutes to re-image. Like taking a snapshot of your computer.

My advice to anyone (this is regarding general windows going down, which it does every 2-3 months, regardless of how much security you have), is ditch the anti-virus and anti-spyware (did you know many of these HAVE VIRUSES and SPYWARE in!!!?), ditch it all. Antivirus uses RAM, HD space and guess what, it doesnt even bloody work. Anti-spyware often contains spywares, this is deliberate, to keep you buying updates. Limewire / any P2P software / bittorrent contains spywares and sometimes viruses. Any computer with Windows on it has a big fat target on its ass for malignant code....

All you need is Windows, Service Pack 2 and Norton Ghost! Learn to use this effectively and you've just become impervious to attack!!

btw I havn't run a f/wall or virus scan on my pc since I had a 166 back in HL1 days Smile

probably the reason I have to re-install.. but I am too lazy to find the cause of the problem usually and just re-install since its reasonably easy to do

can i just add there is and plugin for firefox called chatzilla which is very safe and user friendly..
