Do you mean PCI-Express or PCI .... cos if it's a PCI only system with no AGP or PCI-E it sugests it's an old system so may be underpowered for BF2.

Also shut down any other background apps like messenger, download managers, picassa etc. and make sure you got at least 1GB memoery installed

Then go here for the lastest drivers - http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_rel70betadriver.html

Let us know how u get on.

You might also want to check if the video card is overheating. A lot of crashes are caused by overheating. Are you overclocking your video card? This can also cause it to crash.

Check the temperatures in the nvidia settings (I think right click, then go to nvidia display or something)!

I'd guess you may be asking a bit much if you're playing above 1024 x 768 resolution but I know of peeps playing on older cards - try low settings - and also check in the nvidia driver settings you haven't got anti-aliasing or anisotropic filtering turned on a high levels.

Me, I'd got a 7900GT or if moneys tight a 7600GT ....

£350 is pretty big budget - but as well as maybe splashing out on a new card have you first tried uninstalling BF2, reinstalling it then patching to 1.3 using the full patch, NOT the updates?

A 7900GT will let you play at high settings and they cost about £190 from OcUK, but for future proofing the faster 7900GTX is about £300-£350 ..... http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/7900_Series.html

If you're an ATI fan then a 1900XT can be had for about £250-300 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/X1900_Series.html but replace the noisy cooler with an Accelro X2 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Arctic_Cooling_System_Coolers.html

Or maybe beef up your CPU (assuming it's socket 939) to a AMD Athlon 64 4000+ for £100 from OcUK, add an X1900XT for £250 and then eBay your old CPU?

Finally, maybe the PC as a whole is overheating - add a decent 120mm fan and use Arctic Silver paste with an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro CPU Cooler.

Good luck m8 Laughing

Good advice from munter there, its seems to me that if you wana play on full graphics your cpu may lag behind slightly. If you were to get a new CPU and GPU then you would also see the benefit in general PC use since you would have a nicer CPU.

You could get yourself a dual core socket 939 processor, ranging from £105, £125, £165 and upwards depending on budget, and then spend about £250 on a 7900GT at www.overclockers.co.uk I would recommend the Gainward Bliss model with the 512MB ram, that looks pretty good for the money. I would go to www.scan.co.uk for your CPU they are usually cheapest.

I would urge you to get whatever you can afford if you want full settings at a good resolution, if you purely use games then a single core processor may be a better option. I dont think having a 7900GTX plus your CPU would be very well balanced lol!!

Good luck mate

LT!
