Inside 2142

I signed up for the beta of 2142 and have been finding whole new ways to die! The game is excellent, but as usual a few bugs. lets hope they are sorted before release (Ha!) One current major flaw is the inability to use special characters in your name or clan tag (Boo!!!) I also found I had to turn down the sensitivity of my mouse to 0.5 or it was impossible to control, very strange.

The only map that showed up on the server list was Verdun in Titan mode. You have to capture the missile silos and fire them off at the oppositions Titan, when their sheilds are gone either keep hitting it with missiles or get on the thing and blow it up.

The map is large and vehicles are definately needed to get about but they are fun to drive/fly with some good gunner positions too. The secondary fire on tanks and apc's is some form of electrical discharge that temporarily disables others vehicles. I got hit by one and could not move the apc I was in, just kept taking fire.

There were only four classes open to me when I joined the game: Recon, Assult, Engineer and Support. Don't know if others open up as the game progresses. One thing I do know, snipers still exist! Kept getting sniped when trying to apprach a silo on foot Mad

The engineers weapon is not close combat friendly, it's an anti vehicle missile launcher! Takes the place of the AT guy I suppose. I do like the support gun though, very accurate and with a good range.

I will Fraps a movie together soon to give you all a peek into the game, in the meantime, here are a couple of screen shots.

i am also beta testing it and the map takes less time to load 4 me i dont know if choas agree's on that

i love the apc's as i love firing myself out of it

also i love the buggy it is supper fast

the chopers i can keybord fly

the only problem i have with it is trying to get off the titan before it blows up lol

There are only four classes, the thing is that you costumize them with unlocks. Then Sniper would have explosives etc.

i have 3 unlocks so far i would have 4 but my bro wont let me on his comp to play it till 6 tonight Sad

I realise that now after playing a while. When I wrote that post I had only had a hours time on the game and hadn't had a good look around (too excited Laughing

)

to me 2142 looks just like a mod for bf2.... same textures, same engine, environment. The only difference if the models used for the players and vehicles.

I think I shall keep hold of my money

But that is good, that means that they will have taken all that is learned from bf2 and put it into this game, so we are moving forwards not backwards!!

Yeah it does look just like a mod - its true. I think columbo, they must have learned something from BF2, but were talking about EA here - not exactly brains of the century. They didnt learn from one patch to the next in BF2 hahahaa

Still, I will buy this game and play it instead of BF2 when it comes out (unless its uber crap) - why? because its a new thing, because im fed up with the same old BF2 maps (time for a change) and something new will keep me entertained for the next few months and thats what I want Very Happy

They have sold it to me already, if you read about the knife in BF2142 you get to keep the dog tags of the person you knife!! dont know what this means but it sounds coooooooooool! i got plenty o room in my locker! Plus the jeeps have got nitro! OMG the fun i will have being invisible aswell! Cant wait!
