hi,
basically i had an old geforce 4 and needed an upgrade so ive just brought a new geforce 6600 which seems to have been installed fine.
yet when i play bf2 the graphics look like this...
im not brill with pc's but i have tried everything i can think of, got all the drivers for the new card even tried uninstalling and reinstalling them but it seems to make no difference.
please does anyone know what the problem could be? i've tryed unistalling the game n reinstalling, its not overheating, all the specs add up and should play the games fine as far as i can tell. i realy have no idea, please help before i pull all my hair out!
oh also, i have an Advent pc with intel pentium 4, 2.8GHz, 80GB, 512 ram, its not great i know but should work |

Do you have enough power to run the card? i mean you know when you connect the lil power cable to it, is there enough power going to it? it might just be a dodgy card m8, if all else fails i'd exchange it, because those graphical glitches look horrid :S |

Hmmm messy :S
Got DirectX 9c? My first idea would be overheating or uninstall-reinstall game, but you already tried that ...
Is the game patched to 1.4 (use full patch, not incremental)? Did it re-optimise the shaders? If not, the go to documents & settings/Battlefiled 2 and delete everything there and start BF2 again - it will force the game to "re optimise shaders". Note it will also delete all your personal preferences such as controls, usernames / passwords, so make a backup before you do...
Sorry mate, all I can think of :/ |

you could try yanking the new card out n giving the slot a blast with an air duster, maybe you got some crap in there while swapping cards |

I got similar things to this with my nvidia card, however the patches and drivers seem to have fixed it, and now i just alt tab out if i get the hint of a glitch, when i go back in things are fine. However when i rung tech support they wanted me to do a mem test on my ram to see if it was dodgy and they wanted to know whether i had enough power from my power supply.
How big is your PSU?? Does this happen all the time, and straight away in game?? If it is constant i would ring the card manufacturer, eg XFX, BFG etc
Hope we can help

Hello,
I had exactly this problem.
I have...
Intel Pentium D 950 Dual Core Processor
3.4GHz, 800MHz FSB
Microsoft Windows XP Media Center
2GB DDR RAM
400GB Hard Disk Drive
Dual Layer DVD RW Drive + DVD ROM Drive
512MB nVIDIA GeForce 7600GS Graphics
Built-in TV Tuner + Remote Control
300GB Plug In Removable Hard Drive
19" TFT Flat Panel Monitor
I think it was caused by having the video settings turned all the way up, including 4x anti-aliaising.
Eventually my video card died and I had to install a new one after only having my PC for 6 weeks.
However I have found that turning the settings up in the Nvidia settings window before adjusting the setting in BF2 cured the problem completey.
You should have an Nvidia icon in your system tray (bottom righthand corner of the screen next to time).
Double click that and got to performance and quality settings and turn everything up to the maximum.
Then go into BF2 options and whack your settings up and hopefully you'll hit the jackpot.
If the icon isn't there try finding in in the all programmes menu.

P.s go to the Nvidia web site and download stuff if necessary. |
