Macs are just a complete pile of s****, like ghetto said he would be better off going to McDs and buying a big mac and trying to hook his sound system up to that! If you were to compare the spec of a mac to that of a PC you would laugh your tits off, and to upgrade a mac is just absolutely silly money!

For £800 he could get a decent PC with a Pro sound card etc. Whilst with a Mac you will scrape to afford the cheapest available, they are just that expensive for what you get.

Its all just a marketing ploy, people who are too stupid to use a computer are fooled that macs are easier to use, in short they are not at all!

They are really really really really really bad, and slow as can be. I used them at uni for digital imaging and they just took the piss! and they were super dooper brand new ones!

Hope this helps!

LT!

well it depends whether he likes it to crash every now and then like all pcs do from time to time, or just constantly hanging when he is trying to do something. Seriously when i did digital image manipulation on the mac at uni i could not believe how slow it was, plus running more than one program at a time makes a mac wonder what the hell it should be doing, and slows it down further.

Then there is the OS which is supposed to be good, because apple say it is. Really its just glorified because it is stable and has fancy bells and whistles that just piss you off after a while!

Plus all his software will have to be paid for, there arent as many cracked copies out there for a mac i dont think! that means for photoshop you have to dish out around £600, and for his editing software etc etc!

Plus i think the most advanced game he would be able to play would be BF1942, i think that is out for the mac by now!

Macs are supposed to be stable, is suppose they wont 'crash' as much, but you are more likely to just die of frustration at the money you paid and the speed it goes!

A pc is like a cheetah that may occasionally run into a tree, the mac is like a turtle that is so f******* slow it can see the tree coming and avoids it! Throw that at him to shut him up! LOL!

Aye Macs are rubbish, especially since a mac is now a PC that runs Mac OS (Intel chips, nvidia cards - its a PC!). For 800 quid you can get a Intel core 2 duo, 2G of ram and an 8800GTX if you go down the PC route, but hey, if he isn't listening, that's his problem Mad

hehe, no offence taken, seriously - I know you're just kidding, but I've gotta say something Razz

True faith isn't blind or ignorant, I believe because I have seen. Same is for all of the true Christians I know; none of them has blind faith, that would be just stupid! Laughing

Example: when you wake up in the morning you know the sun's gonna rise. Why? Because it did yesterday. You can't predict the future, but when you drop a stone, you know its gonna hit the floor, right? Think about it - a lot of things in life we take for granted, but we have faith that they will be the same today as they have always been. Same goes for God - once you've seen him work in your life again and again with the same immutable results, you get to a point where you know he will work again.

The credit goes to God for opening my eyes though, because a for a long time I was truely blind Smile

Peace Cool

Hmmm, sitting here reading and typing in from a Mac mini.

I use UNIX boxes, Linux boxes, PC (Windows of every flavor), and Mac (all flavors).

I have run server implementations on all of the above.

I use the tool that works and does the job.

Currently I have a watch that is louder than my Mac mini (size of a small shortbread tin).

The house is utterly quiet (aside from noisy central heating).

I do not play games on it (yes they are expensive and not as many).

If I want to play a game I switch on the PC (starts up and sounds like a jump jet with six fans going), on go the noise canceling head phones and I play ( I won't be getting another PC to play newer games because I will get a gaming console - because the games have to be made within the hardware capabilities of the console that pretty much everyone has the same (none of this "my PC is a Ferrari" - an old friend of mine sent me a picture of his motherboard and the inside of his case - with pride - PC centerfolds next!)).

Not many "cracked" games / Apps either for Mac but the quality of the open source software is excellent. Microsoft has some real compatibility issues as far as Office goes but this may changes with the XML based system the latest version - but PC has a strong domain in businesses still. If I have something serious to write I use LaTex.

PC laptops are more robust than Mac laptops no argument. If cost was not an issue I would have a Mac laptop - but they seem to only have a useful life of 3 years (if they do not break) but then again sometimes (I cite Sony here) PC makers do not even bother to update drivers when service packs change, and then you have to keep using the old service pack because things do not work under the new service packs. I only buy / specify laptops that have non-proprietary components so that drivers will always be out there for them.

Mac OS was great until 7.3.X and then the last revision of OS 9.X.X was just about ok but OS X (you say "OS 10" (but who gives a toss?)), is fantastic - pity they do not make the OS for PC (yet), UNIX underneath and a pretty front-end - easier to understand logically than Windows registry entries. I leave my Mac mini running 24/7 and I reboot it between once and twice a month (and not necessarily because there was a problem), I use Adobe Macromedia studio and I use Adobe Creative suite, plus when I have to, I use Microsoft Office.

I do not like Apple marketing or the implied elitism but I am truly sick of Macophobics and PCophobics.

I can continue and discuss this on an on with reasoned argument and examples for and against from both points of view.

I work with all flavors to do the work, currently Mac is the heavy usage machine but next week it could be a PC.

My point is, until you use both extensively do not just listen to the media hype and the dissing from Macophiles against PCophiles, or visa versa - give it a chance.

Anyway thanks for listening and I will wander off into the mist again.

Oh yeah "Hi everyone!"

Saracen

PS

God is there regardless of flavor of faith - funny thing though - in war everyone thinks God is on their side - I wonder if God knows this.

Peace
