Frontlines Fuel of War is Kaos Studios' intriguing new FPS set in a frighteningly real near-future scenario where the battle for ever dwindling energy resources has seen the world erupt into a second dark age of conflict.

The year is 2024 and China and Russia have teamed up to form the Red Star Alliance who face off against the Western Coalition of the US and Europe and it's multiplayer war on all fronts.

But most importantly we're delighted to announce that we've teamed up with publisher THQ to offer you a chance to sample the PC multiplayer beta free, gratis and for nowt!

Powered by the admirable Unreal Engine 3, packed with vehicles and weaponry and boasting a fascinating new frontline combat mechanic, Frontlines is being crafted by Kaos Studios, veterans of the highly rated Battlefield 1942 mod Desert Combat and you'll have your chance to help shape the multiplayer component of the game by reporting for duty as a beta tester.

If you want to know more on the game, you should check out our Frontlines pages dedicated to the PC version, Xbox 360 version, where there's a raft of previews, interviews, shots and movies to sample.

But if you want the very freshest intelligence, be sure to check out this freshly crafted preview from our very own Mike Jackson who has returned hot foot from New York to bring you the latest. It'll go live at 3pm today, so no clicking until then.

So our advice is to make a date in your diary, set your waypoints for Wednesday 19th December at 8.00 GMT when we'll be giving away the game code for download, plus a whole bunch of the beta keys you'll need to activate it.

All you'll require is to be registered as a CVG member.

See you on the front line!

oh, family envy.

my missus doesn't even have to think about it.. everytime she comes into the lounge its "you on that machine again".
Its got so bad that last time she said it, i wasn't even on the computer, I was sitting on the sofa watching tv. force of habit for her now.
Pregnant women aren't allowed to be made to work in the mines are they ???

My Advice - Go and get "9 months in hell" an African womans story on how life is up the duff in the middle of nowhere.

Print off pretend tickets to abu Desert dhabidoo and tell her if she dont shut the fuck up thats where she is going to have the baby.

It worked for me...wife was as good as gold after that...although she did start carrying the saucepans around the kitchen on her head!

Hehe.

Really think I should get her one of those books for Xmas,
'poor woman living in a terrible place blah blah blah'

then when she starts to get all tearful, give her a big hug n cup of tea to emphisise my loveliness and piss off onto the computer.
that should give me some good gaming time over the holiday.

Yeah, yeah, i know i'm the soft touch, but I appreciate the relationship advice Starsk, though i dont think you'd quite make GMTV mate Laughing
