Not played BF2 for ages, possibly as long as 18 months during my original flirtation with |2es Considering digging out the disk and giving it a little go for a change of pace from COD4 (which is awesome btw - come play )
Tbh the main reasons being to support the server and that there a fair few \2es members i dont think i have so much as spoken to, problem is, i then i remember how annoying i found the prone spamming and chopper whores and nade carpet bombing and idiot commanders.
Bearing in mind i am almost entirely a grunt by nature (so quite liked Karkand and Jalalabad for example) and poor at armour/air is it really possible to enjoy the more open BF2 maps as an old fashioned groundpounder? |

I'm with kop on this. I have recently re-installed having not played for over a year. I also played mainly grunt as my air/vehicle skills sucked but would be willing to give it a go again if someone is willing to babysit me |

Call of Duty 4 is a great game but to have a change to play other great games BF2 or even BF2142 which we have server for is cool
I can be seen playing BF2 and COD4, I would like to see the BF2142 server kick started again also
The games become fun when you are on server with members you know, I get no pleasure killing joe public but a |2es- member now thats different
Getting back to BF2 .....I was away from it for over a year but now I really enjoy a good few rounds. One thing I did notice is that our BF2 members really do work on team work which impressed me.
Cheers all

The thing that killed BF2 for me was my pet hate of bunny hopping teenage n00b tube spammers, do these types still haunt the servers? |

Well patches have definately helped and you dont see so many bunny hoppers as you used too. The nube tube is not as powerfull as it used to be as its blast radius is much smaller so not so many use it.
I guess the shock from playing cod 4 then playing BF2 is the weapon accuracy in my view.
cheers

Went back to BF2 last week, of which I was a very constant player before joining |2es (before Oct 06) but once BF2142 came out, that was it for me. I've never played properly with the |2es BF2 crew before this last week, but I'm really enjoying the experience. Welcom change from hammering COD4. You need that variety and the BF games provide a good change.
Would like a bit of Special Forces thrown in at some point however |

I second that notion on Special Forces, and Euro force to some extent- P.S the EU default weapons are kick ass for those who havent played it.
Though Brune and BBF i gotta say, Im not really a fan of the vehicles neither, infantrys more my strong point and after almost a year of playing BF2 im starting to find the APC's, Tanks and Jets more pain than a pleasure.
Besides you dont see BF2 Clan matches with vehicles allowed amongst infantry.
But then again, there are two styles of play with BF2, unfortunatly mine isnt the one our server does (which probarly explains why are win to lose ratio is pretty bad on Clanbase right now)
But hey |

I can't play SF even if I wanted to, I bought it knowing about the unlocks but don't enjoy the maps or playing in goggles. Now it just fails to load chucking some serial number shit at me, Ive gone through all the ways of re-doing it but the code is already in use or something, I'm not at all bothered as I have no ambitions to play it.
Mrix - Ya dead right about the team work, even without being so vocal on the mic you can almost guarantee that a Res member will be watching your back, hopefully one on the same team of course.
I enjoy choppering (Gunning, not flying) and now know why you would often find parties at the start of rounds with everyone waiting for their plane or their chopper to blow up so they can have the next.
I love COD4 and BF2 for different reasons. |

I know what you mean, the night maps do nothing for me. But Warlord and especially Ghost Town are my two fave BF2 maps overall |

Ive played SF for 12 hours (I didn't think it was that high) but thats mostly when my step son used to play. I don't own AF, EF or 2142 as it annoyed me EA/Dice hadn't sorted this game before they were asking you to shed more money on expansions.
My biggest gripe is How come COD4 is far more "Prettier" (for want of a better word) is more intense but dosen't lag anything like bf2 does even when our server is very quiet? Makes me annoyed at BF2 does that. |
