Hi guys just a little note regarding over clocking! I recently purchased a Winfast 6800gt AGP which I am very pleased with. It runs BF2 excellent on all high settings with my XFI sound card I have every setting on high and Ultra high, which makes the game even better!
My factory clock setting was 350 MHz and memory of 1000 MHz. After using winfox it has enable me to increase the speed of the card by 10% which I can notice the difference in the game. My new speeds are 385 MHz and 1100 MHz respectfully. I have read on other forums that it will over clock to 400 MHz and 1200 MHz comfortable but I am happy with the current speed etc so I'm not going to try to over clock it that much.
Knowing that several of you have NVIDIA cards it would be worthwhile looking into it if you’re not quite getting the performance you would like! As the winfox software is very easy to use.
One other thing I have set the 2D and 3D setting the same!
Happy over clocking! |

Isn't this software just for the leadtek cards though?
I have a leadtek a400gt tdh (the same as a 6800gt tdh) which came bundled with the software but the a400 has much more cooling than a 6800 (bigger heat sink & better fan). So is able take the bashing but im not sure that the 6800 is as up to the job. Although i could be wrong. I would certainly check into it further before overclocking a 6800 to that degree without any cooling modifications.
But please if you do overclock post the results as im sure everyone will be interested.
Cheers

O yea talbot i was thinking if you have the 2d settings high also wouldnt that mean that the card is runnning at a higher setting all the time and therefore would get hotter unlike with just 3d it kicks in when you load a game. Weather or not this is bad or good i dunno maybe its better to have them sincronised i just though maybe the desktop was lower for a reason. |

Interesting thought yea you maybe correct however my original setting on my card were the same for both 2D and 3D. Maybe this is to due with the excellent headsinks on the WinFast cards?
As I said to you and Mrix yesterday I would look into it a little more for each of your cards on the overclockers forum. If you post questions you seam to get a very quick reply!
I'm glad you have seen some improvement as I have as well!
It just shows that the winfox software will work on most if not all Nvidia graphics cards!
mrix and Assassin over clocked their cards also by 10%
Happy overclocking! |
