120hz Monitors and Nvidia 3D Vision

Hello all, after chatting with Alonzo the other evening, I was tempted in purchasing a 120hz monitor from ACER -

With this set up I have also gone for the Nvidia 3D Vision kit..

In all honesty my main reason for trying this is not only for the games but the increasing amount of 3D films starting to be released.

Any of you guys gone down this road or had any experiences with it? I recall Fords explained his brother has got it, I also remember Gordo getting a 120hz monitor but did he get the 3d vision????.

Yep you guessed it! a video likely to be added to this thread at some point!
Cheers

Heard and read quite a few mixed opinions with 3d tv's etc. Some love it, others say its a pain in the arse having to wear the glasses and you have to concentrate more on watching a film, and its not so relaxed. Should be interesting to see how it turns out for gaming. Crysis 2 will support 3d vision, so you'll soon know.

mrixadvertising must be rolling in it!

I look forward to your movie, but don't make it in 3D - you will be the only one who can watch it!

Review here of that monitor aswell as the competion, mostly an LG.

To sum up, the 3d on the Acer is quite nice, however in 2d mode they reckon it has some firmware problems which lead to some visual artifacts. Basically in 2d the LG offering is better, but 3d the Acer prob has the edge. Depends what you gonna use it for most. Not many 3d games around at the moment though. Saying that though, Crysis 2 should look the dogs danglies.

Ps, i've just realised that i've never ever seen anything in 3d 8O  (other than in real life) Am I the only 1 ?

A couple of months ago I was browsing around a superstore and notice a small gathering around a TV.
I went over and looked at the TV which had the normal style blur on the image related to 3D etc.
The guy asked if I would like to try the black glasses on, which I did!
I was expecting to look through them like the cardboard style glasses and it would be annoyingly dark
But I was shocked the screen image looked amazing! my wife tried them and even the kids and we finally walked away and all were impressed :D
If I get a similar image quality l`ll be very pleased 8)
You can even buy 3D Camcorders which is very appealing!

Ive heard good things form people whe have tried it i myself have never seen a 3d film, its deffo something i will be going into in the next couple of years with the ps3 able to play 3d movies and games comming up suporting it aswell. The way i see it you cant realy get any sharper than 1080 hd and 3d is the natural next step .

Im sure it wont be many years untill everyone of us will be using 3d monitors that dont need glasses and all games comming out will have full support for it its realy the only way forward when it comes to the current format of games. The nintendo 3ds handheld comming out next month allready uses the 3d tech with no need to use glasses full tvs arnt far behind and obviously monitors.

Ive had this combo for a while now mrix and the 3D aspect is very impressive, have seen minor ghosting issues under certain circumstances like a black object on a bright white background in game but its hardly noticeable.

Havent watched any movies but have seen a few free video clips from Nvidia and some of the effects are cool, for example theres a racing driver on a podium spraying the bubbly and it actually made me duck out the way because i thought i was gonna get a eyefull.

I wont lie to you but there is a BUT.....your eyes my need a few weeks to adjust, mine did and i had a few headaches but after a week or so once the adjustment was made i was ready to rock and roll(just imagine yourself as Neo from the matrix and you have to re-educate your eyes ;-))

My friends didnt believe how good it was until i showed them and i had to pick their jaws up and off my desktop.Cant praise it any higher than that .

Also the monitor uses its brightest settings when in 3d mode to compensate the glasses so it looks very good, and there are many 3d titles just some have better 3d quality then others.

All the CODS are supported,BFBC2,Crysis to name a few of the newer generation games.

Hope this helps

Unfortunately had problems with the monitor as it had quite an audible buzz when being used at 120hz :(
Have decided to send the monitor back

Cheers

I personally enjoy the 3D system. I bought mine back in Dec of 2009. Back then not many games supported 3D, and movies were not available yet. I have the Nvidia 3D kit with a Samsung Syncmaster 2233 for monitor.

But recently there has been more push for 3D and now i can watch movies, play games, view pictures, and even surf websites all in 3D. I spent 400 euros for the monitor and 3d kit. But now i also had to purchase a Blueray Drive so that im able to watch 3D movies. Its a great experience. Oh and also tested a 1080p Blueray 3D porno...all i got to say is Fucking awesome....Game experience wise, i wouldnt recomend it for FPS. In cod there is a depth issue that i noticed. While viewing in 3D, it looks like im targeted directly on someone but in fact am a bit off to the side. Plus the fast pace will cause headaches after awhile. Put other games like Assassins Creed, Fallout New Vegas, and Starcraft 2 work perfectly fine in 3D and can play for hours. So for me i think its a nice little fun toy to have.
