Hi Rem from what I can see that i5 is still a valid processor, especially being clocked to 4ghz.
If your upgrading ram and having a ssd drive all I should do would be plough the rest of your funds into a New card.
Cheers

AMD = Driver headaches :lol:

Monkey purchased an top of the range AMD card a few days ago and is already having issues and he explained he may have to wait for new drivers. Not sure if he has any form of work around since speaking to him.

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-evga ... 536-dport-

An EVGA GTX 770 Superclocked for 318.44.
The GTX770 is basically a re-badged and overclocked GTX 680. A good card.

My new 7990 card seems to have a fault. I have contacted overclockers who have agreed an RMA, so should be replaced. I was under the impression it was bad drivers, however after a full system re-install, the PC would crash on every game I tried. Clearly an issue with the card.

I did like nvidia, but currently its hard to justify the extra cost. AMD are now in both next gen consoles, I thought I would take the plunge as I expect the majority of games will be AMD optimised.

There's nothing between the 2 manufacturers now. The thing around drivers that everyone worries about has long been sorted. The only remaining prob was crossfire setups which suffered from frame stuttering, but the latest drivers have cured this also. This was also once a prob for Nvidia, but they got ontop of it quicker.
Alonzo was having all kinds of probs last night trying to get his GTX 480 to work in BF3. He had to roll his driver back to a previous version, which took a few attempts. He'd spent most the night attempting to fix it. So driver probs can occur with either manufacturer.
Just get the best card you can get for your money. For the price Monkey was looking at, that card is by far the best bang for buck. But that card I linked you to Remmy is also good value.
It will be interesting to see how AMD's 'Mantle' graphics api turns out, could be a good bonus for AMD kit. All Frostbite 3 games will use Mantle for AMD hardware.
But Nvidia wont suffer too much, I can't see there being much in it really. Just get the best kit for your money.
